Everybody, please READ THIS! (AdSense Reporting Down On Thursday)

From the Google Adsense blog... I hope we don't get 50 threads tomorrow of people asking if the stats are stuck...

Speaking to AdSense publishers at face-to-face events and in reading emails and forums, we on the AdSense team have seen a phenomenon develop that's probably best described as G.A.S.S. - Google AdSense Stats Syndrome. The primary sign of affliction is the compulsive need to check AdSense stats every 15 minutes or so to see how much you've earned since your prior login. Sufferers face strong withdrawal when separated from a PC with Internet access and have been known to experience mild abdominal discomfort and general irritability.

So for you G.A.S.S. sufferers, we will offer a bit of temporary summer relief this Thursday. For some scheduled maintenance, our reports will not be (visibly) updated for around 6 hours beginning at 12 noon PST (GMT -8 for you international folks). Your earnings will of course be unaffected, but you won't see any change in stats during this time as we work to improve the AdSense system.

Please enjoy the day and rest assured that things will be back to normal as soon as possible.

I started reading and had to check my stats before I finished, mind you I just got back from 2 hours of shopping.

Guess I'm a G.A.S.S. addict too - my Firefox Adsense plugin sits in the statusbar, constantly reminding me how ... little ... I've earned today!

At least it saves me from actually having to log into my Adsense account to check the stats ...

Only way I would check that often is if I were making thousands of dollars every day, but even that would get old quick.

You'd be surprised... I agree with you, but there are lots of people that check their stats every few minutes, there was even some clown that wanted to find a way to get his stats sent to his cell phone!

Hey, i thought of that the other day, how great would it be to be on vacation and sitting on a beach watching your adsense go up?

I use the Firefox plugin as well. It is actually useful as a psuedo-pageview counter.

I don't personally check my adsense every 20 minutes, I have software to do it for me.
I do have them accessible by my cell phone, for if I'm away for an extended period.
I also have them in xml format for displaying on my ip phones should I want to.
Fryman, are you trying to tell us that you completely stop workng when you go on vacation, you don't check stats or anything ?. Or is it that you only go away for a week, so it doesn't really matter.
Start taking longer vacations, vacations are much more relaxing if you've got a month to explore somewhere rather than trying to fit everything in in a single week.
It's not just adsense that's available to my phones, I also have scripts checking daily uniques. Scripts analyse the adsense channels and daily uniques together and send warnings if certain predefined scenarios occur. They also monitor other income streams for my sites.
The busiiness we're in is a 24/7 business, just because you go on vacation doesn't mean your business stops and it doesn't mean that bad things won't happen just because you don't bother checking.

I go on vacations and leave someone in charge, he gives me a buzz if anything is wrong.

Worrying about adsense or your business while on vacation is wrong... reminds me of those people that go to the beach and take their laptop with them
