A few days back I bought a PR4 directory. Till yesterday it was PR4, but now it shows PR0. I lost my money :(

Thanks a lot for your kind replies.
Last time I checked it with iwebtool, every datacenter except 1 showed pr4. But today every datacenters are showing PR0.
I too hope so, but I'm really worried.

The domain was bought only 2 days before. I had submitted the site to one or two web directories and added it to Google Sitemaps. Still....

Yeah... I'm guessing it was an expired domain that's why it lost its PR.

Not the end of the world for sure. Something is going on with PR now. The dust will be settled soon. No worries ;)

    The site is http://www.generaldirectory.us/

    According to the whois record
Can you plz tell me how we can find out whether it is an expired domain or not?

Anyway, I removed the site from Google Sitemaps, just in case....

I think you should wait. Google is returning pages from your site with a site:http://www.generaldirectory.us/ search, which means you are not banned. Probably just temporary, Hope things will come back to normal soon...
    Bye :)

    Hi
Before buying did --you check in details --how it was getting PR4?

I believe there are only two ways for a domain/site to get PR4.
    1) Either it has good amount of backlinks to give it PR4 or

    2) Some one has redirected from a PR4 domain.

It would have helped if you gave us the URL. Also you may send me the URL by PM and I could do little checking.

Anyway --don't loose heart --there is always a next time.

Thanks a lot. I had checked the site. There was about 86 back links. Most of them were a few directories or forums.

The url is http://www.generaldirectory.us/ . Thanks again for your help offer.

A few weeks back I saw a thread in DP saying that Google has some problem with the submitted sitemaps, as a result of which many sites lost their ranking after adding their site to Google Sitemaps. Many people shared the same idea, hence I decided to try it out with my primary website. And I removed my sitemaps for my primary website and I could see an increase in my site visitors. Since Google is main provider of visitors for my website, I had to believe that it has something to do with the removal of the sitemap from Google Webmaster Tools.

Unlucky :( It happends to us all, i purchased a domain yesterday at PR4, this morning i check its Pr3 and lost about 10,000 of its backlinks.... Before, iv purchased domains ready to be turned into directorys at pr7 and theyv gone to 5 2-3weeks later. Allthough sometimes i purchase domains for $5 at pr0 and 2months later there pr6 :D (Happend serveral times)

    It happends to us all

Don't worry about it just don't buy another expired domain. Also as others mentioned could be the update. My sites are unafected but I know others are having changes happen.

If you are PR0 or 1 just pay the 10$ and have someone submit to 300+ you'll quickly get some PR and get going. Still sucks though.

It would seem that somthing has happened as i checked 3 diferent tools and its coming
back PR0 in all dqatacenters but it is being indexed which should be your first concern.
The last day of cached was march19 only a few days ago...
which means your still ok in googles eyes but for some reason PR was taken.. why i have no clue???

    thx
