hi everyone , first please forgive my lang. cuz english aint my mother lang , i'm talking behalf of a friend who own's a huge vb forum (more than 2,7 million posts and about 90,000 users) he says : netcraft which queries the servers for rankings gives http://domain.com (let's assume domain.com is my friend's site) a ranking of about 600,000 while netcraft ranking for www.domain.com gives a ranking around 4,000 (four thousand) which is away different , not to mention that
    1-IP
    2-Nameserver
    3-DNS admin
    4-Organisation
    5-Domain Registry
    5-Nameserver Organisation
everything's identical except for "Reverse DNS" where www.domain.com gives Unknown!!
    any clue please !

Nothing unusual about that. What your friend needs to do is make all his internal links and as many of his backlinks as possible use the same URL format -- generally, I advise using the www version since this seems to be more "natural" to visitors.

Search engines see http://domain.com and http://www.domain.com as separate URLs -- that's why this happens.

It would also be worth getting him to 301 redirect the non www version to the www version, that way Google and other engines would see them as being one and the same.

thanks , indeed you are very nice people .to be honest i'm not familiar at all with 303 . 404 . etc but as far as i understood that links should shifted to the form of www instead of http?
another question if i may ask , if the above mentioned was done , would that affect anyhow the changing of ht*p://domain.com/vb to be rewritten into the form of ht*p://vb.domain.com or that's nothing to with it?

    sincerly,
    purple.

No it would just mean the site would be www .domain.com instead of just domain.com and domain.com/vb would now be known only as www. domain.com/vb
