Which operating system does Dreamhost use?

    Hi guys,

    Someone needs to know which OS a website of mine is running on. How do I find this out? I'm with Dreamhost... do they use a standard OS across the board and if so, what is it?

    Some variant of Linux or FreeBSD. Ask DH, they'd confirm.

    They use a self-rolled Debian setup (Lunix)

    The broad answer to your question would be Linux, Debian distribution

    Last I checked they did indeed run Debian on all their hosting servers. If you SSH into your account you can type 'cat /etc/debian_version' to see which version of debian your hosting account is run under.
