Newsletter Names - Creative Ideas for Newsletter Titles

Your newsletter name has a big effect on your readership, so it's essential you choose a good name right from the start. Here are some ideas to help you come up with creative newsletter names...

    #1. Your Niche

You can include the name of your niche in your newsletter title to explain what the content is about. This is one of the most common naming techniques people use. Here are some sample newsletter names...
    • Affiliate Marketing Facts
    • Search Engine Optimization Advice
    • Email Marketing Insider Tips
    • Easy Gardening Guide
    • Free Golf Tips
    #2. Your Target Market

Your newsletter targets a certain audience, right? How about that you use their name in your newsletter title to attract their attention? This will tell them you offer the information that they want. Here are some good newsletter names...
    • Affiliate Marketers Weekly
    • Work at Home Moms
    • Pet Lovers Tips & Trends
    #3. Catchy Newsletter Names

Depending on your target market, this type of name can work for you. The benefit to these kind of names is that they're catchy and easy to remember. They're just creative names out of no where.

However, their weakness is that your audience can't understand what your newsletter is about. So you need to provide them with a short description everywhere you introduce your newsletter. Here are some creative newsletter names...
    • The Great Gordino
    • Scootey Lindo
    • Zapping Tides
    • Blue Velvet Times

Note: You may republish this article on your website or newsletter as long as you make no changes to its content and links, and include the following resource box (with live hyperlinks) at the end...

have used this to actually greatly improve read rate of emails. Thought I would post even though this thread is old since it is a good thread with actual valuable info which is something we don't always get a lot anymore on DP.

    These are just great tips!

A title is one of the most important things in a newsletter, an article, a webpage.
Why? Because a click thru rate of 1% or 40% can give you extremely greater results

    Here are some more tips:

    Make it attractive.
Be sure that your keywords are in the title are attractive and easy for everyone to understand what the newsletter, article is all about before even a person starts reading it!
If the viewer is waiting to see e.x “newsletter tips” then include it in you title. This is what he has in mind so if a visitor sees it then s/he will read it. If possible concentrate on the visitor personally. If s/he is interesting in “Golf tips” newsletter then include it in your title “Golfers Tips”

    Hope that helps.

    There are some interesting tutorials out there, especially by Mail Chimp, where they have compared email subjects across thousands of emails. http://www.mailchimp.com/articles/best_practices_in_writing_email_subject_lines/ and http://www.mailchimp.com/articles/email_marketing_subject_line_comparison/ - Just a selection of the newsletter headings that had the best open rate are;

    # [COMPANYNAME] Sales & Marketing Newsletter
    # Eye on the [COMPANYNAME] Update (Oct 31 - Nov 4)
    # [COMPANYNAME] Staff Shirts & Photos
    # [COMPANYNAME] May 2005 News Bulletin!

As long as you have opt in recipients and you are targeting the right people, you should have open rates of over 70%
