My affiliate income this week has been very low. I think it is probably because everyone is so concerned and preoccupied by the damage in New Orleans and Mississippi that they haven't been buying. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon?
I imagine it is only get worse.. Especially for small and mid-range purchases.. Lots of donations will likely take place which will probably come from some of the smaller purchases people might have otherwise made.
yeah trafffic and sales were down today on all my sites. its hard to tell though, end of summer is slow normally anyways.
I think it is, and since we're not selling gasoline online and most looters don't have credit cards or computers, I anticipate that it will be like this for a while ...
This really stinks, sales have all but dried up this week, and now a long holiday weekend that'll have people off their computers isn't helping matters. I'm actually going to list some of my Philadelphia Paul McCartney tickets on eBay next week, and donate the profits to the relief effort. Maybe karma will help get things back on track.
This week my affiliate sales have gone up, but I do a lot of overseas marketing. My embroidery design business, 95% based in USA, is getting 1/3rd of the usual sales. My hits are constant on the business site but no one is buying. Just keep dreaming of cold weather and xmas coming!
Yep... I'm ~$5,000/day lower than I should be. Always happens with disasters/terrorist attacks... should be back to normal in a week or so.
Master of the universe indeed. Wow. I've gotten $2k in profit a day a few times, but $5k. Impressive. Most impressive.
Hasn't affected our business, but it sure has on a personal level. As an American I'm proud of the way the american people have pulled together to help their fellow man. BUT I'm outraged that our government has their head up their *** and did nothing for those poor people for so long. I'll get off my pulpitt now </rant>
amen. I made the mistake of reading cnn.com followed by michaelmoore.com before my 2nd cup of coffee and I was ready to mobilize my own anti-washington task force!!
Alternatively, I am enraged at my fellow Americans for their looting and pillaging during this disaster, and their constant whining for more tax dollars to solve problems which they created for themselves. If you don't want to deal with hurricaines, don't live in that part of the world. If you do live in that part of the world, don't expect a taxpayer-funded bailout everytime the inevitable hurricaine happens. If you do choose to live in a hurricaine zone, then it should be your responsibility to pay for insurance to cover your risk -- or to accept that you will lose everything the next time the wind blows. Jesus H. Christ -- Americans need to re-learn how to take care of themselves.
Can anybody figure out why I would got red repped for starting this thread? And as usual the person giving me the red rep didn't comment or sign his/her name. Boy that pisses me off!
I greened 'ya to help make up for your loss. I got green rep and red rep for my post -- but I expected it. Speaking the truth seldom makes you friends. I've been listening to How to Win Friends and Influence People on CD. I don't think I am going to convert.
Just curious but do think the same about terrorist attacks, or earth quakes etc I'm pretty sure all those people in New Orleans pay federal taxes. If federal government isn't to help citizens in crisises like this, what is its purpose?
Well of course! I think it was shameful that the taxpayers shelled out about $250k each for every victim of the World Trade Center attack. If you were to die right now at your keyboard, would you deserve $250k from the pockets of the taxpayers, from the mouths of their children? No, of course not. So what makes those people special? Politics! Organized theft from one group of taxpayers to purchase favor from another group of taxpayers. Which gives them a right to what, exactly? A right not to take responsibility for their own decisions? Is that really the kind of government you want? The government doesn't really do anything. Taxpayers do. This sort of government mommying reaches into the pockets of one group of taxpayers to give money to another group of taxpayers. That's not the job of government. The legitimate jobs of government are law enforcement and national defense. Those are shared benefits and shared burdens. Legislating theft from one taxpayer to bribe another taxpayer is the current state of affairs, but that doesn't make it ethical or proper.
