I monitor several sites and ALL had lost major back links in yahoo just today or yesterday.. i check almost daily my main site lost 500,000 back links several lost more or less depending on the size for the site and the links Now i check this via the link: command and linkdomain:www.yoursite.com -site:www.yoursite.com linkdomain:www. am i going insane plz check your yahoo backlinks.. WTH is yahoo doing??? when will the insanity stop nothing new here http://www.ysearchblog.com/
Yeah, huge backlink wipe out for me also, but Yahoo does this all the time, one week I show 500,000 backlinks, then I show 30,000, then it goes up to 600,000... just weird, but as long as I remain well ranked I don't care about backlink counts
Yes, dropped here too. But I think that they were unatural backlinks anyway, with many double and tripple counted if not more.
No change here linkdomain: is at 58,000 and link: is at 13,000 but I'll check daily for few days just to verify
Yes, I see a drop from 30,000+ to about 8500. Many of the backlinks to my site are co-op links; there are definitely not 30000 of them at any one time. Yahoo appears to 'cumulate' backlinks over a period and then 'refresh' them, which has the effect of cleaning out a lot of BL's that were recorded at one point but are no longer present. No change in SERP's for me either.
Me woried because I can't get traffic from google only from yahoo.... Not only BL but also total page index drop more than 60%
I am seeing the opposite so I suppose its a case of when one loses another gains. One of my sites is up 100,000 links and added another 15,000 pages No difference in traffic of course
I say I am not worried because the site I am talking about shows for one search term in Yahoo and gets maybe 200 visitors from that in a month. Google and MSN are my "Dawgs".
I spoke with Tim Mayer about this and he let me say that the new link count is more accurate and nothing else. Why did it change? He said it was because back on July 20, 2005, I wrote a blog entry complaining about how the Yahoo! link command fluctuated way too much on Yahoo! Search and the Yahoo! Search API. Based on that, he made the numbers more consistent and more accurate. I do not know what is exactly meant by "more accurate" but maybe it means that Yahoo! is better at keeping linkage data (at least in the link count) fresher. I published this at my blog under the title, Yahoo! Link Command More Accurate Says Tim Mayer.
At first look there does seem to be some sort of prioritizing in effect. Did a check on a few competitors' sites. Found all higher pr links in the first pages and the ones on the bottom were al pr 0 or na. I think I'm going to like this. I don't have to comb though hundreds of bls to find a competitors most valuable back links.. good stuff. Looks like i'll have something to do tonight.
i'm down a bunch of yahoo back links as well... at least we know that it's not just a few sites, thanks for the thread guys.
wait until next week, it might come back ..lol lost about 6k for two of my site but ranking are the same. so not much worry
