http://www.lostse.com. I am selling the domain but the site comes free (Aka I am NOT selling Xavs script, it is customized to allow MUCH more data at a faster speed, it also has some nice search options. Custom template makes around $1 a day via adbrite (would make much more on Adsense, banned from adsense but not connected to this domain at all) The domain is a PR4 and the site now gets (After a slight bit of marketing) 300 or so uniques a day. Im looking for bids of $150 up. BIN of £325
Its not the "lost SE" for no reason I'd buy it for the PR and redirect to my current domain, but price is a little high for that.
I'm curious ... What did you expect to come up when you searched titanium rings ? I'm almost done with my own search engine >> www.itch.com and want to see if it comes up with what you're expecting.
nitin, i was expecting to see the standard list of results that is given from the "real" search engines for the keyword phrase. i see that is a problem with most home spun search engines, the algos are garbage. these search engines get their data from dmoz usualy dont they? cause i know when you search dmoz for titanium rings or titanium jewelry it returns the "proper" results. lostse: http://lostse.com/index.cgi?Terms=titanium+ring itch: http://www.itch.com/SearchDemo/sear...bmit1=Search&Synonyms=1&indexNum=1&indexNum=2 dmoz: http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=titanium+ring atleast dmoz sticks to the subject, even though their ranking is very off from the big names in the business. not trying to hijack this thread, i jsut dont see the point in buying or building these search engines if they dont search properly
The free version of verity couldn't handle the volume and some other needs we have. On any given day it might be using 1 of 4 packages we have eval copies of and are still testing for the right fit. DocLinx and ISYS are the two frontrunners. Pricey but damn good products.
Well depends on the revenue you're making with the site I think in terms of price/performance dtsearch was the best. It's $1k/domain and seems rock solid. Only reason we're narrowing to ISYS or DocLinx is we're going to need integrated date searching (e.g. "google sandbox" in last 7 days) and dtSearch can't handle that type of query. The ISYS and DocLinx relevancy seem to be a bit better and DocLinx understanding of HTML much better .. but at 10x the price you really have to want it.
Thanks - I may get your opinion on a couple of things at some point... Sorry for hijacking your thread I'll go $10
The crawler is still going, thus meaning new sites will be found all of the time. I also fixed a algo
$30... It seems you have had a redirect from one of your other domains. Could this have something to do with pr??? Also, for http://lostse.com im only getting pr3????
