How to get mods?

I have a forum www.rugjug.com and I have been having great luck getting it going and getting posting, however, with how fast it is growing, I could definitely use some moderators for it now. What is the best way about getting mods if your current userbase doesn't want to do it?

And on another note, if you would like to be a mod, let me know! I really could use the help!

 

Ask your friends, make sure it's people you know and trust.

 

Aside from the moderators you have way too many forums for the number of members. I counted about 15 forums which had no threads/posts in, you need to try and make it look busy, condense them now then expand as you get bigger.

 

I just added quite a bit of content today... that's why it looked empty. The site has been very good about filling up empty content areas, so I'm not too worried about that. My biggest issue right now is more or less being able to handle it all by myself with the growth that the site is having. So I'm really pushing hard for some more mods before I do much more marketing.

 

for mods, i normally find a member that has been there from the start, is an active member/poster and plays by the rules.

if your not sure if you can trust them dont give them too many privilages and put them on a 2 week trial

 

i would suggest that you ask volunteers among your members first. If you were not able to get some volunteers then try hiring experienced moderators.

 

I have forums with like 5000 members and 2 mods, I also mod a forum with 1500 members by myself. All new admins try and over-mod things, you can do it by yourself - even look at DP it doesnt have many mods.

well the topic is still relevant.... how to get moderators is still a challenge for many forum owners today. At the same time the previous replies are still relevant.

 

One of my forums is 5000 members with 3 mods. In my view it all depends on the niche and what sort of members you have.

Attract mods with offering some bonus features - e.g. email address, closed forums etc.

 

you can also get mods for paid, on the starting line this will do the job.

I have found the best way to get mods is to select them from among your most active, mature, friendly, intelligent and trustworthy members. They've already proven they love the place. They need to love it to be a good mod.

 

I agree with Groovystar. The active members will probably be honored that find them worthy mods. Give them some extra's, possible a percentage of adsense positions if your using that. Have them use an own publishing account so they can see their income grow and automatically get an idea of what topics have the most pageviews. You may also grant them access to your Analytics. This is a great way to keep them involved with the expansion of the forum.

 

How many do they have here? Are they volunteers?
