    Hi All,

I've just wanted to test the waters of Directory Market, so I've got this new directory. If it all works out good, I am going to start some more directories.

Here is the URL: Free Web Directory

I want expert's opinion like what can be improved and what mistakes I've made. This is my first directory. Please feel free to submit your links.

    Thanks,
    Eternal SEO.

I like the template, However better for you to take "demo" link off and insert "here for $10/month" instead.

I very rarely submit to directories that use image validation because time is better spent submitting to those that don't use it. No matter how easy the image validation is (and some are quite bad), it takes more time to submit to directories that use it than those that do not. For those of us with a lot of submissions to make to each directory, it is very inconvenient and a waste of time since the time can be better spent on submitting to the many directories that don't use image validation. There is certainly no shortage to keep us busy. Since image validation does not even block the spam bots anymore, there's no reason for it. All it does is make it more time-intensive for people to submit, especially if you happen to get a digit wrong. With some of the image validation, I have typed it 4 times, maybe more (don't remember offhand).

I thought image validation stopped automated submissions. Can anyone else confirm that image validation doesn't stop spam and automatted submission by softwares?

    Hi,

I'd listen to mystikmedia. He knows his stuff. Regarding the image verificationa nd spam bots. I had numerous complaints on my general directory about how hard it was so I finally disabled it. I get the same amount of spam only I noticed I get even more quality submissions as well. I'd recommend taking the spam filter off the only people that can bypass it are automated submission and well thats the only thing your tryign to keep out right? After a while you'll get used to waht spammy sites look like and you can go througha list of 100 alot faster. Like yourself I still have a young DIR as well and in order to compete with everyone else you need as much traffic and quality submissions as possible so keep offering free submission and turn the image verifaction off.:D

Nice clean site. I'd get a straight forward domain, not a subdomain though. As far as image validation, can't you just set it to the largest setting with like 4 characters in phpld 3.1? Even the most visually challenged webmaster should be able to get past that. But I took it off too, because I would rather weed out the spammers than turn away a potential real submitter.
