I finally removed image ads from site as those were paying extremely less compared to text ads. Though, image ads generates more clicks than text ads. I have never got more than 3c for image ads, whereas for text ads it goes upto a 1$

    Any suggestions!

This is real strange. Image ads get more attention and use up more space. Sometimes 4x or 5x more than text ad. I would expect google to charge and pay 4x or 5x more.

True about attention and click rate. But take it from me, my site is related to digital photography and I get pretty catchy image ads from google, but their per click pay is never beyond .03$. I finally decided to inject text ads, leaving behind very few image ads (just because they draw more clicks)

I turned image ads back on, and I find that they pay me more than text ads.
Here is what google says on their website help section:
    ----------------------------

While we can't make any guarantees about the earnings potential of image or text ads, we believe that image ads will prove to be a high-performing option for publishers looking to monetize their pages. In fact, we show image ads when they have a higher value to you than the corresponding set of text ads that might otherwise run in the same slot.

okay, here is other argument. Select the ad type as image and text ads. Now google says it will send ads which are high-performing to your page. I never got image ads when the selection is (image and text ads). Why so? Doesn't it mean that text ads are high-performing? because if image ads were high-performing, I should be seeing image ads than text ads, but that hasn't happened yet.

Just looking at it from other way

Ahh... I use the 728x90's... ;) That's probably the difference right there... because the image ad has to beat out 4 other text ads to get to be shown...

I thought it is only me. Yesterday I changed my adsense to images from texts and I could hardly look at the report today. So many clicks have literally wasted with 0.01 & 0.02 clicks.

I did a google search to see whats going on ended up here.It was half an hour ago and I took this time to re create all the ads.Now it's done.

Thanks for the information. Will keep you posted of the improvement after changing the ads back.,

must me smart price I guess, because as far I know image ads must pay more than text ads, becaseu an image will take place the whole ad block it it must pay more then the others text ads to be placeon the top and occupy the whole ad are.

and as well you must wait a while to the ads optimized give about a week or two and then take conclusions what works better

    hope this helped

    good luck

It may well have been but the topic might still be relevant to some? I findn that when I place Image ads the yield is not as good as text ads I put this down to return to Ad Banner Blindness

Some image ads are based on CPM instead of CPC. That is maybe a reason why it does not pay as well for some sites.

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone tested if text/image ads perform better?

Google will show the highest paying ad, but that doesn't mean you will earn more if the image ad is getting clicked less.
