Google have just put on twitter that there is currently a Panda update happening - expected to affect about 0.7% of searches. Let's see - I reckon 0.7% of 'general' webmasters will be affected - that's probably a good 10%+ from here - the 'non-general' type .Panda has only seen my sites rise. Noticed today in the last 3 hours there have been some real improvements for some long tails, so all good as far as I'm concerned.
Yes it's confirmed on tiwtter, one of my site is already effected, but other seems ok till now. Let's see what happen after its completion. https://twitter.com/google/status/248060554227367936
My understanding of this update is to promote diversity of domains in Search Results. In other words, instead of 5 different pages from the same domain taking up 5 spots on the first page search results, we should see each domain appear once (supposedly) thereby giving more sites a chance to appear further up the ladder. Based on how it is described, this seems like (1) it would be benefit most of us and (2) I'd think this affects more than 0.7% of searches since the situation they are looking to address is actually quite common. That said, there is probably more to it than we know right now, and these are probably things that will make webmasters upset as usual. We'll see...
This is a confirm update as google mention on official twitter that they are rolling out panda refresh. According to thmvp20 may be this update is to promote the diversification search results.
