Woot. Yet another IM. Sorry but I would not use, people should all use one (Such as MSN or AIM) using so many means I have to install so much crap.

I think it would finally motivate me to switch from MSN's. If it happens it will no doubt be cool to tinker with.

What features does MSN have? I've really liked Yahoo's new one with integrated voice and better file transfer (and photo share). No more toggling between Skype and Yahoo....

MSN has voice, video & file transfer...all the basics. I'm just ready for a change I guess.

I use Skype and couldn't be more pleased with it.

That said, I will check out the G program once it's available.

Will atleast try Google Instant Messenger once, to check what facilities and utilities it is offering to overcome or compete with Yahoo & MSN messenger.

If that screenshot means anything; it is not ready for release. It has nothing visually interesting to make people want to use it. Yahoo's has awesome avatar's, smileys, sounds, etc. AOL's...well, I hate it. MSN's as cool avatars from what I remember too.

This one from google is pretty blank. Probably functional, but little else. If they want mainstream usage, they need some flash in it. I suspect its more than a few days away from being released.

I guess it depends on your preferences. Everything Google does tends to "look plain", but people still seem to use/like their services.

Like they did with Gmail and the 2GB storage I would guess they would have to do something "really cool" to get people to take a look and ultimately switch.

What a shame they don't talk to one another. I'd like to be able to use the Google one and contact people using MSN, instead of having to get them all to change. If I can be forgiven for a sideways jump here is Skpe all that? I have recently been told about it as far as saving costs on long distance phone calls is concerned.

Skype is great! I only use it w/ a few people though. And it doesn't have a lot of the formatting options that the others have. It's pretty bare bones.

**It's really good for sending large files.

Also, you might want to check out Trillian.

Trillian is one I have been using for a long while - very impressive how one client can do MSN, AIM, Y! and IRC in one package - saves a ton of memory cos you don't have to resitrct your buddy list to one client, and dont' have to have multiple clients running at once.

Skype is interesting, but it has a ways to go, I think.

Yeah, I've read today in New York Times that Google plans something like IM. It's a natural step to overcome certain markets and spread its influence.
