Google giving PR to HTTPS pages also

I just noticed today that Google is taking my Secure pages and giving them PR.

What is strange is that the Secure page is PR 6 and when just a normal page it is a PR 4.

First of all, why is Google even seeing these Secure pages if you need to login to your secure acct to see them? And since they are seeing them do you think I might be getting penalized for having duplicate pages.

    for example: http://www.mysite.com/widget.php = PR 4
    https://www.mysite.com/widget.php = PR 6

    Peoples thoughts....

thats weird.. let me put a few secure pages up and see.

But i dont think you would get penalized as the content location is the same.. the prefix to the domains.. ex: https or http do not count when it comes to duplicate content.

I think it's just a toolbar glitch. Is the page indexed/cached? Sign in to any of your accounts; Paypal, AdSense, etc. They all show toolbar PR now.

Here's my theory (?) - an HTTPS page implies that you are a company selling something. Combined with the longevity of your domain (taken from WHOIS), it is quite probable that Google is determining that any site selling a product must be more legitimate than a "spammy" site. Considering the amount of spam that has now infiltrated Google, I think this is a good thing.

I'll have to find out more about this....

Since months ago Google is specialized in indexing junk sites, adsense farms, and ton of https/SSL sites, including CGI-BIN listings.

Strange thing because it is supposed that you cannot access directly files on such directory.

Is there a official google statement that https pages may or not get indexed or get PR?
