My ancient IBM Thinkpad (300Mhz 6.4GB HDD) needs to be retired now that I'm gonna be travelling and working away a bit more. I been looking at all sorts of funky laptops/notebooks and I need one that's gonna be able to handle any web design/ graphic design work as it *may* eventually replace my desktop PC. So it will need to have a good screen (17") and a decent desktop resolution (1600x1200) plus enough ram, drive and processor to handle graphics apps.

Although my gf has a nice iBook G4 I'm not ready to go Apple just yet.

I checked out some custom Dell notebooks and they'll be about GBP1500.

So, can anyone recommend a good spec, reliable & cheap laptop/notebook please? Cheers :)

Ah nice one, markkk. There's some really meaty reviews in there, so it looks like I'll be busy for most of today ;)

    Cheers :)

Apple i-books for $50.00 in Henrico County (Virginia) sold off by a school :D :D :D
thousands of people (up to 12000) and heavy fights apple.jpg people got injured, is it really worth the deal?
