Google panic?

    Hello,

    I run social bookmarking site. Last weeks some users wanted to removed their posts or all accounts.

    I received email:
    ".............................
    We kindly ask that you take actions towards removing said links from
    your website, as that would be much appreciated. Google have penalized
    our website based on the existence of these links, so it would only
    beneficial to you to have them removed and avoid their penalizing your
    website as well. In view of abiding by their quality guidelines, we
    are also contacting Google and advising we have been in contact with
    you. "

    This is strange for me. It is one way links.

    another email:
    "Hello Webmaster,
    We have received the following alert message for our site http://www.--------.com/ in Google Webmaster Tools.
    "We've reviewed your site and we still see links to your site that violate our quality guidelines. Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes."
    Hence, we analyzed our backlinks to look for artificial or unnatural links from the sites that are linking to us. Unfortunately, your site http://--------.com/ is falling under this category. We found that our link is found in more than 1 page in your site, making Google think we are participating in link schemes.
    We tried to remove the link from your website by logging in to your site with the account we created, but there is no option provided in your website for that. So, we request you to remove our links from your sites manually.
    This will be beneficial to both our sites. If you fail to do so, we would to communicating to Google to discount you list of sites from our link profile. We are waiting for a positive response for our mail regarding this matter. If you need more information from us, let us know."


    Do you think that google could penalize any website that add bookmark to social bookmarking site?

    I think it depends on the social bookmarking site itself and if it's a high quality site.

    It's a bit silly, couldn't I just submit my competitors links to your directory! if it was that easy to get sites penalized - I would submit all my competitors sites to your directory LoL.

    Your site is not up to speed and you should listen you your users. Because they are the ones that feed you. If your SEO practices look like the stuff offered in the services section on Dp then they should run, as fast as they can.

    No, this site is not auto generated. (social bookmarking site). All content submitted by users and reviewed to remove content like viagra, adult etc.
