Value of info domains compared to org, com, net

When compared to com, net and org domain extensions, is there any disadvantage of having info domains especially from the viewpoint of Google? If same backlinks points to info and com version of the same domain name (e.g. java.com or java.info), will they have very similar SERP position if we ingnore other factors except the extension?

There is no SEO weight put on the TLD of a domain.

.Com's are just preferred because that's what is most popular and are easier to brand. But this has nothing to do with optimizing your site for search engines.

I think that you may have been missed informed.

There is weight for different extensions.

.edu being the best that you can have pointing to your site

I think from my exper. that .net and .org carry about the same weight

.info are suppose to be info sites so are weight as being important

.com are suppose to be commercial site it takes a lot of .com links to achieve

    what several othere will do.

I have put some sites on hold in the past and just a link or 2 from some off

my info sites, and in updating came up with a pr 3 or 4. and about all of the

pages indexed. the above is for page rank and getting indexed (which can be

    a task).

Once indexed work on page links inbound for higher placement in the serps.

Inbound links caarry more weight than exchanged links.

If someone links to you (and you don't link to them the search engines there is something important about you expec. if it is from an educational institution) key word(s) and or phrases play important part here also.

.info domains have been whored out for MFA and arbitrage sites

A big part of SEO is link building and if you have a .info domain some webmasters wont link to you.

Even if that is true, it hasn't anything to do with the actual search engine's preference. Google's algorithm doesn't have any sort of biased opinion as far as the TLD of your domain is concerned.

Matt Cutts said Google doesn't have any preference at all. But some webmaster say .edu links are valuable.

I think it's because .edu sites are often authoritive, so that's why they are better than many other sites.
