Directory script ...which one to use?

    Hi,

Just wondering what are the real good ones out there?

How many sub-categories can these scripts let you have? For eSyndicat I only see 3 sub-categories the most, ROOT > Sub > subby 2 > Sub 3

I sorta wanted to try out a directory that can be very local and perhaps need 5-6 sub-categories the most? Does eSyndicat and PHPLD offer this many?

    Thanks

PhpLD 3.1 Will be a great asset for you. You can find thousands of directories using it. So if you are serious then close your eyes and get a license

PHPld 3.1 has been very good, I now own 3 of them I guess I like it. PHPld 2.1 is good too for what it is FREE! But don't let the Free thing fool you, it's still very powerfull. 3.1 jus have more options.

Are you talking about sub categories on the front page Leapard? It's a subject that come up with some of my users at phpLynx With this you can have unlimted numbers of main categories and I'm certain my programmers could modify the code to show unlimited sub cagegories under these.

Not forgetting to mention the phpLynx is FREE and no modifications are ever charged for if they are there to only better enhance the script. Look forward to perhaps seeing you over at the forum.

You can have an unlimited number of subcategory levels on phpLD. There are a couple of cases of phpLD directories having over 2 million categories.

I invite you to take a look at some of the site of the month winners for phpLD
    http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/articlescript/Site_of_the_Month_Winners/page_1
The newest winner (for January) is www.delightfulblogs.com

I would look at alot of scripts out there before making a decision.

Try to see demos, get reviews and look at speed. If the directory runs slow, then it will cause a load on your server and your viewers will spend days waiting for pages to load.

I think the major ones are esindicat, nicecoder, phpld and theres this phplynx and this new bidding directory which is getting real popular, i don't know where its at but its out there.

I followed advice like this and got to the phpLynx script after trying the demos of a few of the others. Nothing wrong with the others they all have merits in different fields but the lynx for me had that little extra vision, but it is only my opinion.

    phpLynx powered directory coming soon.

If you can spend some money than I will recommend PHPMyDirectory. Great script, only bad thing is that some important classes are encoded.

    hi,

anyone know of an open source directory script?

i don't want a free script, it just needs to be open source.
