Hi Dp buddies, I am new to this directory thing. I have two directories running high. Yahoo! FanClub Directory: It was started in 20 dec 2006. It has over 1770 active links. and GetNull Directory: Its a paid directory released on 10 Jan 2007 but its open till the end of Feb 2007 for free regular submission. It has over 600 links. Well I want to know how many links does a good directory has ?. I am working hard over SEO stuff. I have heard its hard to get higher ranks for directories. Is it true ?? Thanx in advance.
Though, I seem to be having a hard time ranking high on my nearly a year old directories, except for one www.netcenter.ws was was made a directroy in november and got a descent PR3, but the rest had been stuck at PR3 for well over 8 months even though I have a link on a few PR6 and PR5's it din't help me much. But I've also notice this that a certain directories went from PR0 into 6 some where not older than 2 months old. I had notice this while updating my links at www.netdung.com I had moved alot of PR0 to PR5 amazing.
That's really great. Is there a place where I can get a Database structure of 1800 or more categories. ?
I did it manually by hand over the months with the help of Google Directory. But i'm sure there's a Dump out there available.
Maybe is not about how many categories or listing you have: -Quality Backlinks- is much more important.
A quality directory should not rest on its laurels, and would stress quality over quantity. IMHO, quantity is not a good benchmark when judging the success of a directory, and the quantity of listings would vary depending of the goals of the directory owner. Some directories rely exclusively on user submissions for growth and others independently seek quality sites and continually adding listings. So the success would be measured differently. A "comprehensive" category structure is a worthy goal, but having large numbers of empty categories is of no benefit to the end user or search engines; I would prefer using a directory with at least a few listings for its categories over one with no listings.
Although having alot of listings is good due to the fact that most of the categories will not be empty, but I agree with CReed that quality is alot more important then amount of listings. If the directory is free, I would not give it much credit for having tons of listings because everyone wants a free link so having alot of listings is to be expected. Price will always play a major role when it comes to the amount of listings a paid directory has. All in all, it really does not matter to me, if it is a quality directory then it will be worth the submissions regardless of the amount of listings. To be honest, I perfer to be listed in directories that do not have alot of listings because it makes my link alot more powerful and I am likely to be one of very few sites listed in that category, thus providing more pr and ranking weight.
This may be a little out of the topic, but I thought you're supposed to reinclude both "Designed by" and "Sponsored by" links at the footer. What happened to the Sponsored by Romow Directory link? Did you miss it again?
I guess guys everything should tell the name of their directory and the links and be on the topic. ALso provide tips for directories.
