Google Vs Human .. Who will Win ...?

(Back in 2008 Aaron Greenspan decided to fight against Google Adsense. Let's see who won..)

Aaron Greenspan got his adsense account banned back in 2008. But he had earned a considerably huge amount through adsense.

As usual, like when google decides to ban an account, they sent him a very normal looking email..saying..

" Your adsense account has been disabled ".

May be Aaron is a good guy or the reverse (a spammer).. but we don't know.

Anyway Aaron filed a civil law suit against the - ADSENSE TEAM.

And the verdict was surprisingly against Google.

    - ' Adsense Lost the Case '

And had to pay Aaron, the whole of the money as was shown in the earnings tab in adsense + the court fees.

Now whose side are you on...?

Good on him! About time somebody stood up to Google. Having said that, I expect Google to appeal the decision and keep appealing until Aaron Greenspan either dies of old age or goes broke. Google is very aware of the old adage that there is no point in having extreme power if you can't abuse it. :)
    Good luck Aaron. Live long!

I like the way you think Abdul. Very optimistic. I hope you are right. Trouble is, the humans at Google have a LOT of money.

I am with Aaron Greenspan. Google's ads policy change time to time and most of the publishers are not able to understand completely these policy specially new publisher. So, I think, Google should send at least one waring mail to publisher. If publisher is spammer then will be well familiar that his or her account is going to ban. But if publisher is not spammer then he will research about mistake done by him.

I think Google Adsense should be wise on banning one's account. And i agree with @harrysmoth123 about warning email.

Human wins versus Google and so did Aaron, right? If you are doing the right thing, whether your opponent is a Big or small guy in any industry just like in internet marketing world, you can always win by fighting for what is right and what you believe in. Congrats! Aaron for winning!

I don't think he won anything.. He would have won if Google was to pay him millions of dollars, not only his balance and the court fees.. But the truth is that you were unable to read correctly the report from the human himself who clearly said that Google appealed and won the case finally..

Also, to put things in perspective, when you say he was earning lots of money, this is not true at all:

"In the end, printed on a baby blue sheet of paper by the clerk's aging dot matrix printer, the judgment was actually entered for $761.00 total, due to the $40.00 court costs. I couldn't help but to smile in front of the judge."

So he earned about $721 in one month and 9 days.. that was his balance at the time of the ban.. not quite "a considerably huge amount" as you wrote.. he signed up in march 2008 and was banned in december 2008, so we're not talking about big earnings in any case here..

    Then Google appealed and won:

"My company was to be awarded $0 in damages and $0 in court costs, implying that I had lost the appeal."

Finally the reasons for Google banning his account, as they had to tell them to the appeal judge were:
"One appeared to be that I had used the forbidden phrase "pick a link" on my web site. The other was that Google AdSense advertisements could not be placed on web pages lacking content."
So, labelling the links it's against TOS and pages lacking content (only had adsense links, was a kind of "parked domain" with only adsense and "pick a link" above) is also against TOS..

So Google:1 Human:-1 (because you're also human and failed at reporting correctly a simple case)

    He won: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aaron-greenspan/why-i-sued-google-and-won_b_172403.html
    He lost: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aaron-greenspan/why-google-bothered-to-ap_b_213176.html

    I am sorry.

Infact I read this story from Digital Inspiration (labnol.org) and not from Huffington Post.

Not the whole story was covered there (on DI)..
I skimmed the blog post and shared it here..

Anyway thanks for sharing the complete story and pointing at my mistakes...

Definitely your comment adds value to this post...

    Thank you...
