Yahoo owns Overture, so I'm sure they'll just be feeding ads/bids in from them.

Google has sent an e-mail detailing all the new features in AdSense. I have also received an e-mail from clicksor stating that they have upgraded their system and that all publishers should update their code. Guess they are gearing up to face competition.

Wish Yahoo would open up its beta testing to non-US publishers as well.

Also, considering that Overture's minimum CPC is 10 cents and assuming that they pay at least 50% of their earnings, publishers' minimum CPC would be 5 cents in the Yahoo publisher network as opposed to 2 or 3 cents in Adsense.

Isn't everyone not in the US used to this by now? It seems everytime anything happens, particularly BETA's of anything, US-only is stipulated. There are many reasons for this, such as simplifying payment, etc. Why is this a surprise to non-US publishers every time it happens?

That's good to know. I wish Google would raise their min. bid from $.05. I have a site or two that gets lots of cheap clicks, and raising the minimum would immediately raise my earnings considerably... ;-)

It isn't a surprise that they are accepting only US beta testers. I was just wishing that they would open it to the rest of the world as well. Also, considering that they have been testing their ads for a long time now, Yahoo launching only a BETA version of their publisher network was not expected (at least by me).

I just got accepted this morning. I created my account, logged in, etc. I haven't placed any ads on my sites yet, as I have to make sure that no Google and Yahoo ads display on the same pages as the others-- both have TOS's that require exclusivity. I think Yahoo's TOS is indicating that it's exclusivity between other context-sensitive ads such as Google's, but it's not as clear as I'd like it to be, considering I have other advertisers(static ads, sold direct)...

I'm going to hold off. I think many rats fleeing G for Y is just going create a ship full of rats in Y for a few months. I think many good people might get booted by accident in after Y tries to clean up the rants.

In the mean time, with serious competition, G will be nicer to us, right?

Now anyone having a predictions like this?

thx,

tom

It could work out, but then what's the point? If you are happy with Google, stick with them. Can't see how a few cents more or less will make us change our minds to go with anyone else.

I prefer adbrite at the moment, as it's not dependant on PPC.

I want to see another viable alternative to appear, just to reduce Google's stranglehold. No matter how well-intentioned, I don't like a single company having so much control-- as with MSFT, it creates a lot of FUD...

Is there an URL for adbrite?

adsense pisses me off ... they closed my account at will ... they didn't explain anything to me about it ... and they're ignoring my emails

they dont even have the decency to have a real person email me and tell me why the account was closed, which is all i asked for

i hope yahoo takes it down

First, let me say were aren't in the same boat. I was commenting from my prospective that I still have an AS account. So I have options. Now your case, you do too, but AS isn't one of them. Good luck with Y, I'll wait to see people posting their options about their experiences with Y.

Out of the frying-pan into another frying-pan?

Well I think many people want to help you, can you post your URL's so maybe you can get options about your site to figure out why you were banned, and possibly prevent a Y-ban?

later,

tom

Moncal will become famous soon enough
If they aren't going to release it from beta until the end of the year then at least it won't be that much longer until I turn 18 from when it is released.

Yep it's http://www.adbrite.com/mb/?spid=449 (Referral code if you want to use) .

I've used Adbrite for over 6 months now, I think they are pretty good and always pay on time. You need a popular site though to get maximum benefit...

ah, yeah, good point. i guess what i meant was that i hope yahoo gives adsense enough competition to make them rethink how they treat their clients and to remove their "monopoly status"

i just got the standard "invalid clicks" email and i'm angry that they didn't elaborate further .. but, whatever .. i got over adsense and stopped sending google emails .. i'll just wait for yahoo, i guess
