This should probably go somewhere else but I figured 'general chat' would do... I was doing an idle G search the other day for 'solar powered industry' just to satisfy my curiosity to see who's doing anything about powering stuff up with the power of the sun. In #1 slot the original article led me to solar data centers who happen to be similar to solar host... It all looks pretty cool to me, I was wandering if anyone had any experiences of their services. With 6 degrees of seperation I figured somebody might know somebody who had a friend etc who has an account with them.
Hi, There truly is a marked for anything these days 299 USD a year for 25Mb! It is alot! Solar power doesn't come cheaply. I wonder if there are any webhosts that advertise with nuclear powered hosting
LOL I think France generates about 80% from nuclear power so the probability is that they've got stacks of nuclear-powered ISPs. OK so the price is quite high but with oil topping $45 a barrel I see things a changing...
Reminds me of Asian market traders: "Ah for you my fliend, today special plice, only two hundled dollars!!"
FYI FWIW: Thanx to a donation, I used wind power for my 22,000 christmas lights in 2002 ... but it was just a surcharge on my power bill, although (honest 'injun) I had people ask me where the windmill was on my lawn that was powering the lights! ;-) Solar would certainly be a LOT easier in places in SoCal (Colorado can be nippy in the winter) - I'd be curious to see how well Shawn does with his plans to do this - he actually may WANT to be on the grid since it's my understanding that you can feed power BACK into the grid (i.e. run your meter backwards) and have the power company pay you.
You can run power back to the grid. This site is all about the different ways in which you can change your life in order to help the environment. Worth a read...
Spread the word It doesn't take much to 'do your bit' and having long hair, wearing lentils and eating sandals aren't prerequisites Have a scan of eco footprinting - no surprises but quite interesting under the technical bits
