Those H&R Block Ads are on every site

Any site using Adsense is displaying those H&R Block ads. I wonder how much money they pay for that and how they can make them appear on all kinds of different sites. Doesn't Google Adsense only offer site or keyword related options for your ad to appear? How does it appear on every different type of site?

Well, I'm only getting H&R Image ads, and image ads usually don't follow the usual keyword and content rule.

But do they pay well? I'd assume so since they are insurance, but how much do they make per click?

as an advertiser you can choose to have your ad displayed on a particular site. note the advertiser on this site link in the bottom right on every adsense ad.

Well, I got 1 cent on a few days with less than 50 impressions, which is better than 0 cents for no clicks

Can you block the H&R Block ads? I tried to block taxcut.com in my adsense settings but the ads are still showing. The adsense preview tool doesn't give me any other url to block (doesn't even show any taxcut url).

I would let it run except it has absolutely no relation to my site, and my site is mostly visited by young kids who don't care at all about taxes. I have seen my clicks go down in percentage and I think its because of this useless ad.

H&R Block is spending a lot of money this year advertising...but they will probably get their money back and then some...

They might have some kind of deal with adsense to have their ads show up everywhere.

I think that the letters Google sent out last week asking for people to use a certain ad formats has something to do with the HR Block blitz. The HR Block campaign started a day or 2 after the letters. Its just a guess, but if I had somebody who wanted to spends tons of cash I would accommodate them.

HRBlock and TaxAct ads are ruling my tax site

I see HRBlock and TaxAct banner ads many times in my tax service business directory and in my tax forum pages. Is it possible to track the CTR from image ads and that from text link ads separately ?

I don't mind having image ads as long as they are the top paying one for the keywords.

H&R Block is one of the leading tax preparation company in US. They have tax preparation service by tax professionals. They sell one of the leading tax software (TaxCut) in US meant for those who prepare their own taxes.

H&R Block, HR Block or even block itself are used to refer to the same company.

Those H&R Block ads are all about saturation. It's tax time, they want the most people to see their brand name and be reminded that it's tax time and H&R Block is the place to go. It makes sense for them to want their ads to show up on every USA targeted site.
