I posted this one in the "New Google Logo" thread first, but I thought it may deserve a thread of it's own.. Don't know if this has been posted before, but it's pretty cool, so I take my chance to post it here again.. Here are some more themes from google: http://www.google.com/Easter/feature_easter.html (catch the eggs) http://www.google.com/heart/heart01.html (click and hold on the heart) http://www.google.com/heart/feature_cons.html http://www.google.com/mentalplex/ Images: http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html http://www.google.com/unclesam http://www.google.com/microsoft http://www.google.com/mac http://www.google.com/linux http://www.google.com/bsd And some "special" languages: www.google.com/intl/xx-elmer/ www.google.com/intl/xx-bork/ www.google.com/intl/xx-klingon/ www.google.com/intl/xx-hacker/ www.google.com/intl/xx-piglatin/ Who says that google doesn't have a sense of humor?? Anyone who knows about similar google stuff like this??
There are also a couple of other classics from google: April fools day pages: http://www.google.com/jobs/lunar_job.html http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html
It will be interesting to see if this sense of humour continues after the IPO or becomes more Corporat'ish.
What I want to know is the 'creative' projects they have to dedicate a day a week to or whatever it is - there are ones which make the cut like Google News. Great. I want the bloopers - the ideas that sucked. Is there a trashy blonde host available to host a show like... Google Ideas That Suck
LoL the lunar job is funny. But you know I actually appreciate those holiday pictures and stuff. Its a side of google that shows that they are human beings too. I feel like there are actually people behind google. Instead of a server, like yahoo.
LMAO...I see it all so clearly now. PigeonRank's success relies primarily on the superior trainability of the domestic pigeon (Columba livia) and its unique capacity to recognize objects regardless of spatial orientation. The common gray pigeon can easily distinguish among items displaying only the minutest differences, an ability that enables it to select relevant web sites from among thousands of similar pages. By collecting flocks of pigeons in dense clusters, Google is able to process search queries at speeds superior to traditional search engines, which typically rely on birds of prey, brooding hens or slow-moving waterfowl to do their relevance rankings. When a search query is submitted to Google, it is routed to a data coop where monitors flash result pages at blazing speeds. When a relevant result is observed by one of the pigeons in the cluster, it strikes a rubber-coated steel bar with its beak, which assigns the page a PigeonRank value of one. For each peck, the PigeonRank increases. Those pages receiving the most pecks, are returned at the top of the user's results page with the other results displayed in pecking order.
Bumping up an old thread of mine here, but I just found an other cool google thingy to add to my list.. (couldn't edit my first post) don't know if it's been posted before, but here we go anyway.. the 2004 Year-End Google Zeitgeist, Interactive Edition.. http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist2004/index.html It's quite interesting to find "Nigritude Ultramarine" on the "most popular queries" list for November..
This thread is 4 years old. Even the bump is over three years old. Post count padders are ultra-irritating.
