YouTubers to get ad money share

YouTube founder Chad Hurley says people who upload videos to the website will get a share of the ad revenue.

That's some nice news

 

If that is true, it only makes sense. After all, it is the people uploading their material that make that site work. They should be compensated.

I think this will hurt youtube. Who is going to want to browse videos when, before every video, there is a commercial?

its a bad thing, because now people will upload videos with bad quality just to get paid.

Same here, I mean there is other ways to earn money at you dont have to be gready, and now the visitor have to suffer with ads which is bad so they will lose a lot of visitors!

If they pay the visitors too for watching the ads then its another thing but I'll rather go to an ads free one than one with ads, even if I got cash for it.

 

Do you honestly think a company like Google would let people drain millions in bandwidth costs a month out of kindness? It's a business, they aren't there to be kind, they are there to make money. So drop the leech mindset and learn to sacrifice a little. Youtube is worth it, don't you think?

 

Whats the whole rage at them showing ads?

I mean dont most of you (the ones complaining) show ads on your own sites? [Sites which are probably a little less popular than Youtube]...

I mean, even here on this great website we have ads, and I dont think anyone has gone to Shawn to complain?!

 

Where's the rage? There's a difference between showing ads on the page and making you wait 10 seconds to show an ad before viewing a thread. That's the difference.

 

They're just a bunch of griefers who want a free lunch.

Youtube wasn't making a profit when they were showing banner ads, video ads are probably the only profitable option. Heck, they're even offering revenue sharing, isn't that enough to stop people from complaining?

 

this is not good for long term of the site...they will have to spend millions just to get sooo many cheques out to ppl...and ppl will try to make a living JUST BY creating millions of short stupid videos..

 

You answered your own question, do you think people use their sites or services to be kind to google? Not really, if people go to an site/service they actually choose the:

Faster one.
Better one.
Easy one.
Free one.

That's how people are nowadays, so maybe you should get your facts straight before speaking?

No I don't put ads on my sites, not at all. I hate google ads or any sort of ads so don't put words into my mouth without knowing what I will say.
First of all, I don't use YouTube that much, there are faster Video Galleries out there actually that shows the full video clip without any ads.

And therefore I choose those pages. Just because I don't like ads doesn't mean I'm money-wh*re like you are.. no offence though
