The following is taken from the relevant site.. How To Win Upload a video to http://video.google.com and be the highest ranking competitor for the the term "my funny video" at the closing date of 30/04/07 to be the winner. You can create your own video, or upload any video that suits Video.Googles and TheVideoSense.com Terms and Conditions. Its That simple. Rules for Contest: How it works Each competitor registers at www.thevideosense.com Then simply upload any video to http://video.google.com and the first line of the description contains your membership url. e.g. http://www.thevideosense.com/user/YourUserNameGoesHere/ You enter this video's embed code in your membership account, this video needs to comply with TheVideoSense.com TOS found Here No Adult Content Videos. Video must be submitted to your TheVideoSense.com Account. The Competitors TheVideoSense.com Members URL must be in the first line of the description for the entry to be valid. --- My Questions: 1. Is it the highest ranking competitor for my funny video or is it for "my funny video" (ie enclosed in quotes). 2. With 85,000,000 results for the phrase I'm not surprised you're holding the comp but just to be clear - its the highest ranking competitor that wins right, you dont actually have to rank #1 ? 3. How do our own sites fit into this (or do they) ?? Thx Oh PS.. Heres my funny video. In fact, here's My Funny Video Collection. Would this sort of content be within the TOS ?
Hey John re its without quotes yep these videos look fine The winner is the person with the highest ranked video for the term the winner does not have to be ranked No1 , though I imagine they will be. Im not sure what you mean by how your sites fit into it etc? Thanks Pete
I always thought to rank well in a video search engine you have to have a good catchy video that is viral. This will help to get people embeded the google code into their site giving it more popularity and then Google will know this and rank it higher. That's how I thought it would work anyway.
Thats what everyone thinks John, though how many do have a great video and it sits there unviewed? i can tell you litterally 1000's Lots of potential videographers out there have this delusion. Unless you know how to get your videos to rank well.. its like the best website on the planet thats not indexed in any search engine, basically a complete waste of time. pete
Ditto here.. What a lame attempt. Better spend those 3000$ on some serious SEO and you will be ranking well.
I normally don't jump in on any bandwagon, and I still don't plan on it. But I did want to say one thing in terms of video SEO. Its really not that hard, I have clients ranked #1 in you tube results for various things. I never thought of it but I think I will create a nice detailed article on how I have done it for there videos. Id assume the same principles carry over for Google video as well as AOL and MSN.
Very good points but this is what this competition is all about.. to get a good understanding of what does work and what doesnt work in video.google.com and how to make the best of it etc thanks Pete
Ic, well good luck with that, I don't currently have the time for such a contest maybe in the future.

Everyone has their rights to post their contests here. So is their comments... But I would rather use a forum for making friends... If I like the topic started I join in.... If I don't I just let them be... No point posting bad comments bringing frowns to the community.... - SaM
