Most of us are in the business of trying to attract traffic to our sites, and click-throughs on ads, Adsense and others, right? Just wondering though, WHO CLICKS ON THESE ADS?! I have to honestly say I am the wrong kind of traffic for most sites - I have grown up with ad-aversion all my life and have almost never clicked on web banners, pop-up ads or the newer Adsense-style text ads. I just don't feel the need - I know they are trying to sell me something, they rarely interest me (almost never in fact) and anyway, part of me knows someone is paying when I click on it! I think I have clicked on all of 3 Adsense ads EVER (since they appeared, I mean!) So I am interested to hear how many of you are ad-clickers...?!
Although i run ads too myself and am aware of what the webmaster is doing i still from time to time click on ads if im really interested and curious, i must admit that some banner ads can be very tempting and my curiosity makes me click through to find out more, so for myself at least i would say i browse like your average browser most of the time.
what i tend to do is if i like a site and it runs ads i will click on a few ads now and then but if there is a site that runs the ads i dont like i wont but i dont go out my way to click on every ad just the odd click now and then maybe few times a month or if a add catches my eye
I mostly use Firefox and I block all the ads because I use an older computer and all the javascript slows down my machine. In the rare occassions that I use IE, I have clicked on ads that were interesting; I never click on ads on MFA sites.
i'll click -- i have no problem clicking an add if it is something i am looking for -- i don't have time to copy/paste or type in the address
Almost never. Sometimes in the Google search engine, but never on normal sites. I'm just adblind I guess. I dont even look what they say anymore.
I click maybe once per year. Mind you we are webmasters, and we distinguish ad links from regular links - often devaluing them without conscious decision in comparison to their 'natural' counterparts.
When I'm looking for a product, I usually click since they usually are more targeted. But when I'm randomly surfing... never.
I lose respect for anyone who clicks on ads just because they like the website. There are people who work hard to generate legitimate traffic. They don't need people blowing their adwords budget just because someone's trying to be nice to the webmaster. If I see an ad that's interesting, I'll just enter the URL displayed in the ad into my address bar. Sure the publisher loses out on the click, but the advertiser doesn't lose anything, especially since I very rarely purchase anything. And we have to keep the advertisers happy or there won't be anymore adsense.
I voted for occasionally. I do sometimes if it grabs my attention, and once in awhile, just because I know how much B/W can start costing.
I click. I dont click too much on adwords though, as I wouldn't be too interested and it would cost them money. Toronto Painters GTAPainters
I use a popup killer and occasionally play with the interactive flash banners now and then. Mainly because I hate flashy, seizure inducing ads.
What you have to understand is that we're all, for the most part, savvy internet users. Also, the question shouldn't be "how many people have clicked on ads" but "how many people have actually purchased something through an ad". I never have, ever. BUT - I'm savvy to this stuff. My dad on the other hand, if he got online to search for and buy Viagra, I'm 90% sure he'd wind up buying the stuff through the ad, and not through the natural listing. So, you're asking the wrong crowd. The people who buy crap through ads aren't the people who work in the biz.
I've never purchased anything through an ad, but if I see an ad that is relevant to what I'm looking at, I usually always click it (and when I do, I imagine a happy web master refreshing their AdSense stats)
I rarely click on ads. If URL is complete I usually type in the address bar. And of course I never click on my own ads.
Occasionally, if something really grabs my attention I do click. No problems with it at all. As to purchasing - no. I prefer to research a lot before I go over and buy whatever.
