Yahoo has been showing me some love lately so I am thinking about giving myself a nice gift and buying a laptop. I have never had one before, so could you suggest a good one? No macs, please. My top priority would be battery use, I don't want a lap that uses so much power that the battery drains in 40 minutes... oh, and as light as possible, I don't care how big the screen is, but I don't want it to weigh a ton. I was thinking about a VAIO. Are they good? Because they sure are expensive!
Does he still work there even after the thousands of layoffs around the world? Oh, and yeah, the XPS2 rocks. Though for desktop publishing it's a bit grainy (that's what I'm typing this on now).
That's what you get for living in a shitty country... Dell over here only has the inspiron and the precision series. Best thing I could find is the Dell Precision M70
hmm http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2302 had to look it up. I would actually settle for that one before anything else (I like DELL a lot ) How much do those cost in MX? Are they a lot cheaper than in the U.S.?
I wouldn't buy it... the basic configuration, including taxes, costs $2,100 I just saw a cute small one... 12" screen... must be difficult to work on your sites with it! Another monster has a 17" screen... can't imagine what it must weigh
I can help you get dells for amazing deals if you need them. Its really nothing with me but I watch slickdeals.net like a hawk and jump on the 50% off deals alot. they usually are only good for a few hours. I but 20-50 at a time then resell them on ebay. I have a dell xps laptop i bought specifically to play warcraft when i travel and I can tell you this might as well not even have the battery cause i can only run like seriously 25 mins without it shutting down playing warcraft. However it does rock for a gaming laptop. I have dell m700 that I got for my assistant and wife and they are ok machines. I use a sony t150 (on it right now from the toilet =P) the sony has the best screen on the market hands down and also dvd writer and bluetooth/wireless weighs under 2 lbs and my batter will last 5 hours! plus the blue tooth is nice. Its fun to sit in my car and leave the laptop on to spam broadcast blue tooth messages to people with bt enabled phones and pdas =P I also have a toshiba satalite 17 widescreen that we keep around for guests. It was really cheap on ebay like 700$ new and its a fast machine. the downside is it weighs a ton and it will burn off your legs ok so my final sugestion is... if you want a workhorse get a dell xps if you want something for mobility there is nothing on the market as good as the t150.
I would take this laptop to Canada with me and cary it around wherever I go, so small and light are my priorities. The xps seems to be a replacement for a desktop, it must weigh a ton
I'm using a slightly older Toshiba Satelite, but it's pretty sweet for what I need. Got in on ebay for $400. Though if you have some Ca$$$h then you could try these bad boys. And don't forget their "monitors." If you can even call them that... more like works of art.
weird, i hate Sony computers, and especially vaio models- but the t150 is the nuts. I looked long and hard before finding a laptop that was perfect for me.
Yeah probably, but there is some crazy stuff on there... granted it looks like you've made you're own version of the monitors there Shoemoney. (Nice Legs!)
OK, My last laptop was a Vaio GRX516MD. Nice bit of kit, but internally, they skimped on some of the cables and connectors. Normally this wouldn't be a problem as few people ever open their laptops up. But, they also don't seem to have lock tight on internal screws so some of them come loose and this causes a few things to over heat. Open it up, tighten the screws and it works fine again. Problem comes if you dislodge one of the cables - a couple of them don't use zif connectors, so getting the cables back in is a pita. My current laptop is the DELL XPS gen 2 the screen is fantastic. OK, so it's a bit on the big side for carrying around but I got a back pack from Dell so it's easy enough to move. The best laptop I've seen by far for portability was a mac - don't know what model, but it was about a 12" screen and the battery lasted forever, or so it seemed. Battery life on my Dell is about 2 hours, which is reasonable for a machine of this spec - oh, and it runs Linux perfectly
guys.... how about this one http://pccorner.com.ph/products.do?action=showproductdetail&typeid=23&categoryid=68&productid=2432
