SO!!!!!!!!!!! Here it is.... And what another Bang it is to the SEO World! No surprise here really. Yahoo! has basically announced that they are doing away with one of our kick ass SEO tools, Yahoo Site Explorer, at the end of this year in 2011. This bad ass tool was introduced to us back in September of 2005. I am definitely sure that when Yahoo! and Bing joined forces, back in the middle 2009, they had to decide which one of them was going to abandon some of there efforts! This shut down of Yahoo Site Explorer should definitely let you know who has the BIG GUNS in their relationship or who wears the pants for that matter. The news was confirmed by Hemant Minocha, Product Manager, Yahoo Site Explorer, on the official Yahoo! Search Blog: "Having two webmaster portals for a single source for organic results does not add enough value. Once organic results are transitioned to Bing in all the markets, we plan to shut down Yahoo! Site Explorer and Microsoft's Webmaster Tools will be the source for Bing and Yahoo! webmaster site and analytics data." So, are you wondering what you are going to use now? Webmasters and the alike are recommended to sign up with Bing Webmaster Tools and use that instead. Minocha further stated that "The Bing Webmaster Center team has been actively adding new features over the past few months, including detailed traffic statistics and a new inbound links feature. Microsoft is also committed to build analytic reports that include Yahoo! search usage." Still alot of unanswered questions to this, but I personally recommend that you start using Bing Webmaster Tools as soon as possible and get yourself familiar with it.. You can do it here: Bing Webmaster Tools Just wanted to pass this on to those that didn't know about it... GC
I also wanted to add that you can always use (recommended) Google Webmaster Tools instead.... I really don't know though, how many of us optimize our sites for Bing or Yahoo... Just stick with what works, but it won't hurt to try them out too. GC
I do like Yahoo Site Explorer, it's a good place to see all of the links going to your site, but other than that, I find it kind of limited compared to Google's tools. Bing seems alright, but I think more could be added to these tools, especially for finding out up to date results for keyword ranking.
You should be using both the Bing and Google Webmaster Tools if you care about your SEO. Yahoo, although a great tool, does not even rank websites anymore so what is the point of caring about what they see as important. I do agree tho that Google Webmaster Tools is really all I need although the different tools show different backlinks and information. All in all this is a pretty good post since most webmasters use these tools.
Not that I know of just yet, but I'm sure they will. Remember Yahoo and Bing are now one, so they will have to come up with something, if they so choose, otherwise, Bing has a Webmaster Tools. GC
I've never really used it anyways, i dont analyze competitions backlinks, nor do i keep track of how many backlinks im making. I just blast my sites until they are #1 which always works.
Interesting.... "Blast Your Sites"... What do you mean? Xrumer blasts? I didn't use it that often, but thought it would be some good information for those that didn't know... GC
Unique Article Wizard, Senuke-X, Scrapebox, Xrumer, Article Marketing Robot, Bookmarking demon. I use more but those are the main ones.
Here's actually a few other sites (i.e. Blekko.com) that you can get backlink data from as well. So even if one resource cuts out, there are always alternatives.
Yeah... Good call... I forgot about Blekko.... Geez, I must be in the hospital or something... There are a lot of things going on with those 2 Search Engines, along with Google making some major changes as well...
