Daniela Cicarelli - YouTube told to drop celeb sex video

A Brazilian court ordered the popular video sharing service YouTube, a unit of Internet search provider Google, to be shut down until it removes a celebrity sex video from its site, a judicial clerk said Thursday.

Daniela Cicarelli, a model and ex-wife of soccer great Ronaldo, sued YouTube after a video of her apparently having sex in shallow water on a beach with her boyfriend was posted to the site.

For days it was the most viewed video in Brazil.

Cicarelli and boyfriend Tato Malzoni filed to force YouTube to take the video down and demanded $116,000 in damages for each day the video remains up. Some copies of the video have been taken off the site but users have reposted it.

The case dragged on for several months before they filed a third suit in December requesting that YouTube be shut down as long as the video is available to users.

The court honored that request Wednesday, but legal experts say the ruling by the Brazilian court could be difficult to enforce in the United States, where YouTube is based.

Maybe I'm just out of the loop but I thought youtube was all about NO graphic sex...? This poor woman must be really upset, imagine how you'd feel if it were you and you didn't want it plastered all over the internet. I hope she wins and I hope she gets wads of cash from them too. So inappropriate.

Yes in today's world don't do in public what you don't want to be published all round the world by media or press, TV etc

And never under estimate what the amateur can post live within minutes on YouTube and similar sites

She should even be the one to be sued for committing public scandal. Shame on that woman!

For what its worth, I'm of the opinion that anything done 'in public' is just that, PUBLIC.

Where do you draw the line? If I was to take a photo at a football match, could the players object to it being published on the internet? Take it to the extreme, could any of the spectators object?

I think these so called celebraties should consider teh implecations of their action before they next pick up the telephones to 'warn' the paparazzi that they will be out and about at a certain time and place.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Exactly the people who do these things should expect whatever the outcome without compensation or reward, and most definitely no re-dress, claims, damages etc

I have just watched the video, in the spirit of research you understand ;) , it certainly appears to be a very public place.

The lawsuit is only going to draw more attention to the video, they should of just contacted youtube to take down the video.

Privacy is NOT on a public beach.

Where was their respect for others decency then? They were willing to engage in sexual activity on a PUBLIC beach, nw all of a sudden its a privat matter. I wonder if the police (or guardia civil - as it was in Spain I believe) are looking to press charges for outraging public decency?

Personally I have no problem with what they did, good luck too them both, however I do think that to then cry the privacy angle is a bit rich!
