Hello. As part of a pay per popup service review, we at the Great Traffic Experiment were testing the Clicksor popup service. For our test, we placed Clicksor code on a high-traffic test page. We then monitored incoming hits and usage data in order to determine whether Clicksor was accurately reporting ad impressions. Everything was going fine until our test page got Slashdotted and received the customary massive surge of traffic. In very short order, our Clicksor account had accumulated about $130. We then removed the ad, as it was producing multi-spawning windows (which, by the way, Clicksor says its code will not do). But no sweat, right? We annoyed the visitors a bit, but at least we got some great data and made some cash to boot. Nope. At the end of the month, we got this message from Clicksor: Your account '[number removed]' at clicksor.com is suspended! Clicksor.com audits every Affiliate's traffic on a regular basis. According to our audit, we believe that you are producing commit fraudulent activities. At first, we figured there must have been a software error. Google and other well-established companies have software that's smart enough to realize that websites sometimes get sudden, massive surges of traffic from one place, but a little guy like Clicksor probably isn't smart enough to figure that out. We figured it would be a simple matter of contacing their customer support and having a human look at their logs, and maybe sending them our data to prove there hadn't been any funny business. After all, looking at our traffic data (shown here in a screenshot culled from Google Analytics), it's easy to see where the massive surge was coming from: http://www.thegreattrafficexperiment.com/Analytics.gif After contacting their support people, we got this back: After reviewing your account in detail, unfortunately, we have come to the conclusion that your site will not be re-activated. We have detected that there was excessive reloading generated from your site. As impressions and clicks generated are disqualified, the revenue generated will be refunded to our advertisers. Ok, so it was a different problem--reloading. Our test page contains about 10 videos linked to one central page, so the usage data tends to show visitors going from the main page to the videos, back to the main page, on to another video, etc. Given that layout, it's possible that their software saw a bunch of hits from the same IP on one page 30 seconds or so apart, and thought something fishy was going on. There's also the chance that someone got angry about the popup and decided to spam our page in retribution. In any event, we figured it was a simple misunderstanding--either they would look at their records, see our page layout, and give us our money, or they would deduct a certain amount for the fraudulent traffic. When we contacted Clicksor via phone, they informed us that they were suspending all of our earnings permanently. When we asked them for any specific information about the nature of the "fradulent" traffic, they refused to give it to us, saying that all of our traffic was from suspect sources. The implications of that are ridiculous--it's simply not possible that every Slashdot user is a robot or paid surfer, yet that's how Clicksor classified them. In our last communication with Clicksor, we simply asked for information, so that we could determine what they were actually working with: "What I want to know is what portion of my traffic was actually considered fraudulent, and exactly how that determination was made (how many refreshes are considered suspect, etc.). Although I know that I did not commit fraud, I am willing to acknowledge the possibility that a visitor refreshed my page illegally, inflating my hit count. If that occurred, then I am also perfectly willing to forfeit the earnings that were credited to my account as a result of that illegal inflation. However, since you are giving me no specific information as to the nature of the alleged illegal activity, I have no way to know how much of my traffic was determined to be fraudulent, and how that determination was reached." As of this writing, more than a month after that email was sent, Clicksor still has not responded to us. Based on our experiences, it's fair to conclude that Clicksor's software is faulty--it red-flags large surges of traffic, and it raise a red flag if a page is laid out in such a way that visitors leapfrog from place to place. Clicksor's business practices are also questionable--they essentially stole $130 from us without providing any information as to the nature of our alleged fraud. Since Clicksor won't share its data, even in the event of a seizue of funds, it could easily cheat its publishers by claiming that fraud had occured, witholding funds, and pocketing money from its advertisers. Overall, the best advice we can give is to think twice before signing up with Clicksor, especially if you have a site that is subject to large traffic surges, or high number of pages views per visitor. Clicksor's software isn't smart enough to handle sruges or comlex layouts, and you risk losing your earnings based on information that Clicksor will not share with you. If you've had any similar experiences with Clicksor, or if you'd like more information about our experience, please feel free to contact us at Tom TGTE
Clicksor is a big scam, and almost every webmaster who used them feel sorry for wasting time and moeny and trafic with clicksor. in the first look at clicksor you think they are ok, ads looks like adsense, but the truth is clicksor ads are very poor, and dont forget the spyware they download to your visitors with the ads, porn ads, casino and viagra. i had my lesson with clicksor. but i got all my money untill the last cent and took me 11 months to get it. my advice to you is stand up on your thing, and dont give up, and you will get your money from them. show them that you are serious and serious means COURT ! which they affraid of it, because they scammed so many webmasters. sue them!! and my free advice to every new webmaster with lciksor, just beware, they will let you make (poor earning) couple months and they will kick you and suspend you after they steal your money.
Yeah, increasingly I'm hearing that that's the consensus on Clicksor. Our experiences with the quality of their ads back that up. Apparently the ad was multi-spawning and resisted closing. It got so bad that the Slashdot admins actually ammended the post about our test page--here's the actual quote that they posted with the edit: This site apparently is behind a really nasty popup that I missed (yay Firefox) the first time through. You've been warned... given the overall rottenness of the pop-up, I guess I wouldn't bother. Some folks know no shame. Obviously when we read that we got rid of the popup, but the damage was already done, which makes the fact that Clicksor is withholding our money all the more frusterating. We reached the same conclusion as you, that legal action action would be the logical next step--we've already forwarded all the info about this to our lawyer, so we'll see what happens with that. Tom
yep clicksor is a scam. You may earn a bit, you think you deserve to get paid the $5, but you have to earn $50 to get paid. So you may the choice and stick with it for the other 10 months to get the rest of the money (if your lucky and dont have to wait alot longer) best advise, ditch it and find another provider where within a couple of days you could quickly make up the lost money.
I'm sorry for your bad experience with Clicksor. I can't beleive they didn't unsuspend you. Clearly you didn't do anything wrong. It won't surprise me if Clicksor shuts down soon, they barely have any advertisers. It's just the same ad all the time all over again. As soon as I reach my minimum payment, I'm taking them off for good. Hopefully, that's soon.
Hi Yes When i browsed my own site thru IE a spyware installed by a clicksor popup I use mostly FF but for testing I used IE. Same work done by adsense to me they suspended my account thanks
i'm with clicksor for a long time now, and i must say it's ok. I use it on my adult sites. Clicksor sent my first internet money. I'm not doing a fortune with them, but they pay on time, and they already sent me small amounts of $ to my paypal and also by a check.
No wonder. They treat their advertisers like crap. My first campaign I started with them didn't got activated until after a week, it wouldn't have been activated at all if I hadn't sent a complain email and talked with them over their live-chat. That was for a couple of months ago. A lot has changes since then, like new features etc, so yesterday I started a new campaign with them. And to my shock nothing has turned to the better. My account manager apparently wants to talk to me over the phone before he activates and verify my campaign. This even though I say that I don't have a phone and that my mobile phone is broken. But he insists that he must talk with me over the phone. This even though (it clearly says on their site and when you activate a new campaign with them) that they only verify your first campaign with them. And when they do that they can do that over phone or e-mail. I still wait for my campaign to be activated, the last email I got from my account manager regarding this was just a blank email...
Me too. not only Clicksor, PayPopUp's pop-under script also has BIG problem: I often don't got what I set..
I've had my first major problem with Clicksor. Been with them since 2004 and they've been paying me on time. However, $50 was owed to me and then received an email to say my sites were suspended. When I enquired why, they said was because multiple clicks from the same IP! I said it wasn't anything to do with me (and it wasn't), but now my sites are suspended and I've got 0 revenue even though I had other sites making money with them! Sorry but Clicksor is very dodgy and I can't recommend people to use them.
SAVE YOUR SELF DO NOT EVER JOIN CLICKSOR AS ADVERTISER OR PUBLISHER. i joined as publisher with them because they send me an email with how much i can make money with them. SCAM SCAM SCAM! first of all you wont make that money cuz your site have to first make $500 with clicksor to qualify for premium ads. i was like ok let me try then. I DIDNT GET PAID FOR MOST OF MY IMPRESSIONS! there were 98% of campaigns showing $0.0000 earnings with $0.0000 eCPM when i chated with them live and asked why im not getting paid for those ads they started disconnecting saying they had unstable connection that time. i didnt gave up i was reconnecting and asking the same question after a while when they realized they wont make me go away they asked me for my account id. i gave them. min later they came back saying sorry but my account got suspended cuz didnt met the requirements. WTF????? WHERE IS MY F***** MONEY?????? i spended over $70 on advertising and only earned $0.30 with them. DONT JOIN! DONT WASTE MONEY. they wont pay you for your traffic. even if you put 20 banners which i did since they said it will increase earning. It wont! 20 banners 10,000 impressions $0.03 earnings. BULL SH!T sorry for language i just want to warn people. GO FOR ADZELE.com pays $0.10 per 1000 CPM BTW ADONION and many more are clicksor company just with different name but same cheatings!

Just search Google for Clicksor Virus and you will discover why you should never run their ads if you care about return visitors. I had to format my computer once because of them They are that notorious for serving nasties I now have them blocked on my host file
They have been known to serve up nasties in the past, around this time last year, a lot of people left them because of infected ads.
