One of my sites is having its highest day on record today, and its only google referrers. And the day isn't over yet.
Been rather positive for me, but not a whole lot. I was worried because I am at the mercy of what my users write, I cannot control where they got all their contents. But, I think only the US is currently affected, (unless they have started to roll the new algo out). FFMG
That's interesting! I would like to see some honest guy saying my traffic has dropped. That would be like indirectly admitting that his site is a farm
True, but no one will admit to that directly, they would say, "My traffic has dropped, but I am not a farm, I only copy thing for reference" FFMG
If anything, my traffic has been on the rise, before and after this. When you have quality content, you shouldn't worry about these updates.
Starting to really notice the changes - my ancient site with almost no content has shot through the roof with thousands of extra google referrals per day. My spinoff of that site with lots of really good content has dropped right back in the SERPs, from page 1 to page 7. They used to rank almost equally, with the old site only one or two notches above on the first page. The new site is on the first page for everything that is *not* spinoff from the older site. Its got to to the point I'm getting COMPLAINTS from my users about lack of content. I've finally given in and just outright redirected the older site to the new one since Google clearly can't read all my "unmaintained, go to the new site" links that visitors click out through. So bye-bye traffic (and probably adsense income) until Google works out the redirect. Oh well, what's $10 a day between friends. Meanwhile, since I put in the redirect my CTR has gone nuts. I'm almost at 2% now for the old site with under 1000 impressions, while the new site has 5000 impressions and 2 clicks so far today ...
Have to agree with some of the comments quality content is key. Although losing a pr but gaining views is pretty weird.
Since I didn't have any links in content farms, and I didn't do any article marketing ... the impact was positive. More traffic.
