Too Many Quarters

Like a lot of people, I decided a few years ago to keep my change in a little dish... well it outgrew the dish to a bowl, then it outgrew the bowl into a pot. Then I decided to only put quarters in it. So now just the quarters have outgrown the pot, and I don't really feel like "upgrading" my storage space.

So I just now dumped them out on my living room and took a picture so you guys can see how many there are (it's more than it looks, because it's actually a mount, not spread out).

I'm not sure exactly how many there are, but it's a whole lot (probably around 100 pounds [a little under 50 kilos for the international folk]).

Anyway, now I need suggestions on what to spend the quarters on, so be creative with the ideas. :)

Charity is an option I suppose, but man... I had to lug these things around, so would be better to give other money to charity.

BTW, I calculated it based on weight... if it's 100 pounds worth, it would be about $2,000 USD.

You should go down to an antique store, buy one of those glass 5 gallon water cooler bottles. Try to fill it up with quarters. Don't cheat, just do it with the change you get from fast food or whatever. It takes a lot longer than you'd think :) Looking at the pile, that'd fill it up less than 1/4 of the way.

Based on the size of the pot they came from (which is more than a gallon), it's probably a little more than 1/4 of one of those. But I don't want them anymore. :)

Do u want to spend or donate it?

If you decide to spend, just give a ring to your friends ..Fix a place full of high trees (may be a forest). Give them a beer party.

If you decide to donate. Choose a good orphanage and donate it.

Dat's a lot of quarters! Not sure what you should spend it on. Just deposit them or give it to poor people.

I have three five gallon jugs full of pennies! Two people can barely move one of them. When I was little I thought I could cause a penny shortage.

Have a contest where people guess how much money it is all together and they have to spend $10 to enter it. Whoever is closest, will win the pot and all the money from the contest goes to charoty.

You guys really are not very creative. :) I give enough money to charity, plus I'm sure they would rather get a check than a bunch of quarters.

Why don't you go to an icecream man and ask for 200,000 chews?

Do you have icecream vans in America?

Yeah, we do... but what's a chew? And then what? Post a thread asking for suggestions on what to do with my 200,000 chews? :)

Depends on how much laundry you have to do (for those who don't have their own washers)

Wow... I wish I'd read your 2nd post before I started counting all those Shawn... ;)

    Creative ideas... hmmm.

    Idea 1:
I think you should buy as many
    Powerballs
as you can and give away one a week/month for best contribution to the forum. Though that may take too much work.

    Idea 2:
Fly to Germany to hand pick the equipment for your new house's home automation.

    Idea 3:
Get a really big wall fountain for your new house.

Or you could start a competition of table football with 8000 entrants. You have a knockout system where every winner of the knockout wins the quarter. The final winner will have won a nice little sum of quarters. It's all in the name of being popular lol

    A few suggestions:
    1) Used slot machine or arcade game
    2) trip to vegas
    3) cool new video camera
    4) take them to a strip club
    5) a set of truck nuts (viewer beware)
    6) convert them to pennies, then send them over to Winn and Sims to pay off someone's supposed debt.
    7) get slob-knobbering drunk playing quarters.
    8) a segway - you know you want one
    9) forget the segway, get a parapropter!
    10) buy yourself an invite to a party at the playboy mansion, but only if wiggles can come too.

Okay, that's the best idea so far... and go to France to check out some architecture for the house. :)
