need free book keeping software

Discussion in 'Products & Tools' started by sharpweb, Jul 10, 2005.

I'm sick of the excel spread sheets I use to log my hours. I've looked in the past for book keeping software that would be simple, yet effective without any luck. Since many of you most likely have the same needs as me, can anyone suggest something that they use?

    Thanks
    Chris

What sort of work do you do? Do you just want to track your time or do you want something to keep your accounts?

It's all hourly contract work ranging from website design to programming. So something to track my time for multiple clients. Some nice reporting would be good as well, but not essential.

It's not free, but Quicken Home and Business would work pretty well for what you need. It's what I use and it's not too expensive.

    Go here.
    http://freshmeat.net/browse/76/

I would urge you to check out NOLA and Open Tax Solver
because they are what I played with.

There are a number that would work for you.

Try QuickBooks, it is easy to use and maintain. You have good offsite backup solutions for Quicken/ QuickBooks. I remember this online backup service which does real time backup of all the Quicken/QuickBooks files without anybody’s intervention.

In market there are many software to create flexible bookkeeping. As MYOB and QuickBooks now dominate the SME market for bookkeeping and accounting software. Money Manager with MYOB overcomes these limitations and allows you to set detailed budgets for all of your profit centers and then consolidate them to form the company budget.
