Hi, I have submitted our site company website to DMOZ about two years ago. But it is not published yet. Even I don't know the result. Is it fair or good idea to submit the site again in DMOZ? Please let me know it would be good for me. Thanks Mahi
Why would you want to flout the submission guidelines again and suggest it for a third time? Listing suggestions don't evaporate with time, they wait for somebody to process them. Some volunteer will process your listing suggestions in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.
It may have already been processed and processed twice if you did submit again... and both times it could have been rejected. That is something you will never ever know because communicating with you is something they will only do on sites like this, and then only to tell you they wont bother communicating with you about it. You've submitted, now forget about it... they have.
What? Both times? Once could be thought unfortunate but twice ... In any event, we don't decline misplaced but listable websites, we move them to the right place.
Might wanna see if ya can get the guidelines changed on that point then, as the add page clearly says "rejected or removed" not "moved to a better category". So saying otherwise could really be misleading... when it should be clear at least some of the editors will be deleting it rather then moving it.
#STABD Chose which one you want to believe Jimnoble is a highly respected, very senior editor with vast experience Qryztufre is an ex-editor who listed about six sites, including his own and left.
Hmmm.... anyone in their right mind would pick the actual guidelines, which I so kindly quoted. Here, let me link to it as well to avoid all confusion. http://www.dmoz.org/add.html (it's in step three). Now lets revisit. I am an ex-editor. You & Jim are both current editors. I am quoting the guidelines you are supposed to follow. You are telling me I am wrong. *ponders* And you wonder why people don't trust editors? EDIT: Thanks for helping show I was the one that was correct that was very kind of you, even though you likely meant to be trolling. I really don't mind, ya see, 9 times out of 10 when you troll me, people actually see I was the one with a) proof of what I was talking about, and b) was right all along. Whereas, when when they see you doing your troll thing, they see a) you never back up your claims with ANYTHING and b) are really just trolling (which makes the ODP look bad). So again, thanks a bundle... it really means a lot to me.
