What about sharing an account?

So I might be interested in joining up with someone who has a YPN account (and is a senior member here as well), so I can put ypn ads on my sites and we'll share the revenue (after the check, or dd arrives, a part can be wired to my bank account or paypal).

So I'm wondering if anyone here ever done anything similar and whats the common % sharing rate. :)

    thanks

I would be very careful and specially if i had that site making good money. Only go for it if you know him very well and for that % part i would say whatever you guys can negotiate is good. I mean as long as you are doing better then adsense it should be fine :)

I wouldn't give my bank account or paypal # to anyone...the way things are these days, you will be in the hole no time flat, no matter how much you trust anyone..plus, I think it is against TOS.

d16man, it has nothing to do with giving bank or paypal account, just the ypn code..
As i've mentioned I'll only consider as a partner a senior member with full reps, itrader, couple thousand posts etc.

I was doing that... until yahoo kicked us in the groin and started sending 2 cent ads, lol

My cut was 70%, owner of account got 30%. Since he wan't doing anything at all I think it was a good deal.

Only do it with someone you really really trust... once the money starts pouring in you can easily get into deep water

yeah thats the idea, thanks

any idea why you started getting lower clicks? Was it because of the niche, or ypn in general starting to suck?

You know yahoo... once you start earning big they either kick you out or start sending lousy ads

um that sounds kinda weird, wouldn't they be interested in the opposite, especially if you earn big.
Only thing i can think of is your ypn traffic probably had poor conversations, which resulted in lower interest for advertisers. I have seen similar things with adsense, but in that case clicks are quite steady, only small drops of like 30% in click value with the time, probably more due to the competition.
I was thinking of 60%-40%, so 70-30 is quite good i suppose

Are you serious? So with 70-30 you are still earning better then adsense? Its just me but i wouldnt pay that much to someone who isnt just doing anything at all. I would better buy an invite or something...

I suppose both methods are against TOS :D:D

I can't do anything with an invite since I don't live in the US.

After we got smartpriced I went back to Adsense.

But if I found someone that would be willing to ride the yahoo wave with me I would sure do it again ;)

I haven't bought an invite, and I sure wouldn't buy one, if I lived in the US I would get one by myself, never really understood why someone would pay thousands of dollars for one, it is just ridiculous and all it is causing is a black market and flooding the forum with those crap threads.

fryman, have you considered starting a US company to get a ypn account?
I suppose it wouldn't be a big spend if you can convert better your 100K visitors/day ;)

It isnt easy :) Getting an offshore Corp is easy in US but getting one is US is just hassle even for US residents. Unless he is expecting very good change which i know he isnt looking at his above few posts it is not going to be worth the time, money and hassle 2c:)

What's the point? I already went through the Yahoo experience... great for a while and then it drops like a rock. Not sure it would be worth it

And to be honest I wouldn't feel confortable creating a company in a country I have no idea about, I don't even know how to create one where I live

YPN is actually paying less than adsense in some sectors. It does pay more in others, but their TOS does not allow you to even show the ads to any visitor outside the US. A person sharing their account is also going to get a 1099 for all the income for tax purposes. I have over 60 sites and if I had to deduct 30% from the payout, more than half would get more with adsense. YPN targeting is bad, and they have just allowed publishers to bid lower on YPN content vs Yahoo Search and this is causing a pretty dramatic drop in payouts in a lot of areas. YPN is also very sensitive to "quality traffic" which is why a lot of arcade and sites catering to a younger crowd are having their accounts terminated. Just something to consider.

Agreed... Yahoo might play dumb for a while, but sooner or later they will get you.
Their targeting sucks, but it is also terribly easy to get whatever ads you want. Getting loan related ads on a site about kid toys is a piece of cake, that's why there are so many arbitragers out there.
Yahoo need to fix this hole soon.
