Merry Christmas everyone. As I see so many posts about Jesus and Christmas, I also thought to tell you about my thoughts of Jesus son of Mary as he is a Muslim Prophet. We Muslims accept Jesus (may Allah's peace be on him) as one of our Prophets. Our Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace with on him and on his family) said that "all the Prophets are brothers and Jesus is the closest one to me." He showed his two fingers, the pointing finger and the middle finger, saying that Muhammad and Jesus are like these two fingers that are very very close. Muhammad is the best man that has ever been created and Jesus is the second best man. They are higher than the rest of the prophets and men. Jesus (may Allah's peace be on him) is a man and was born from Mary with the will of Allah, the Most Merciful. Mary (may Allah's peace be on her and on her son Jesus) was a chaste woman and was untouched by men. She bore Jesus as her son by the will of Allah, the Most Merciful (ar-Rahim). Jesus is NOT son of God. Allah, the All-Sufficient (al-Ghaniyy), is high above from having a son or a daughter or a wife or a mate. Allah, the Most Compassionate (ar-Rahman), sent us Prophets so they show us the path. There is nothing equal to Allah, the One (al-Ahad). Allah, the Most Majestic (al-Jalil), the Most Praiseworthy (al-Hamid) alone is our Lord. Mother of Jesus is the best woman that has ever been created and "she is above all women" says the Qur'an, higher than our Prophet Muhammad's wives who are the Mothers of Believers. We respect and love Mary as the highest and the best woman of the human kind. Jesus son of Mary is a man and he, as a Prophet made many miracles. His birth brought peace to the world as Allah, the Most Kind (ar-Rauf), says in the Qur'an about what Jesus says "peace to the day I was born and peace to the day I am be raised." Jesus did not die. He was taken by Allah, the Most Protecting One (al-Wali), and is protected until he returns. Allah, the Source of All Goodness (al-Barr), also says in the Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad that he should tell believers that we should believe in our Prophets and we should also "listen to Jesus when he talks." May Allah, the Bestower of Peace (as-Salam), have peace on all our Prophets and the good women and men of the world. As-salam aleykum (Peace on all of you).
First of all this should go to politics and religion section.... 2nd i must say you have a lot more to learn about Islam. I must also advice that you do not assume or interpret Quran with your own thoughts, its a book from God and you do not have permission to assume and make up stuff in that. Go check out www.alislam.org to learn more and for more clarifications of "raised to god" and some more stuff you wrote but about 80% of that is right though
What about all the wicked people? Who needs love, mercy and grace more than them? Allah sounds a lot like Santa Claus.
This is something many people aren't aware of. Islam and Christianity have similar roots historically. If I'm not mistaken, Muslims believe the chosen son was Ishmael and not Issac (such as Christians believe). That, along with the nature of God and Jesus Christ are many of the main root differences.
Well, muslim's may not believe Jesus is the son of God, but we will see if we are around for the second coming...my money is on Jesus and not on muhammed.
brujji... Jesus not only is the son of God. He is God by our understanding of the Trinity. Mohammed simply took what he liked of the Holy Bible and created his own religion as it suited him. It is therefore a false and misguided religion based upon false principles as dictated by a man with an agenda who has codified for the gullable the entire subjugation of women. But thank you for clearing up not one of the similarities (as some here would have us believe) but one of the many differences between our two faiths.
Is Jesus in the Koran exactly like the Jesus in the gospel? Other than all the things I know ie he's not the son of god, not crucified.... Is his character the same? Which of the below does he promote as an individual? 1. "FORGIVE EVERYBODY OF ALL THEIR OFFENSES AGAINST YOU." (Forgive, and be forgiven.) 2. "YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN." 3. "ABIDE IN ME, AND LET ME ABIDE IN YOU." 4. "LET PEOPLE SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS." (Do not hide your light under a basket.) 5. "END DISPUTES QUICKLY." (And take to your "problem to the person!!! Not to everybody else!) 6. "WHATEVER CAUSES YOU TO SIN, GET RID OF IT." 7. "DO NOT SWEAR OATHS AT ALL." 8. "DO NOT RETURN OFFENSE FOR OFFENSE." (Turn the other cheek.) 9. "GIVE WHAT PEOPLE ASK OF YOU, AND GIVE MORE THAN IS REQUIRED." (Go the extra mile.) 10. "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES AND THOSE WHO WORK AGAINST YOU." 11. "GIVE TO THE POOR TO PLEASE GOD, NOT TO GAIN APPROVAL FROM OTHER PEOPLE." 12. "PRAY PRIVATELY AND SIMPLY, NOT TO IMPRESS OTHER PEOPLE." 13. "MAKE YOUR PRAYERS BE LIKE THE LORD'S PRAYER." 14. "WHEN YOU FAST, DO IT SECRETLY, NOT FOR SHOW." 15. "STORE UP YOUR TREASURES IN HEAVEN, NOT ON EARTH." 16. "DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR MATERIAL NEEDS." 17. "DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE FUTURE." 18. "MAKE GOD YOUR HIGHEST PRIORITY, AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL YOUR NEEDS." 19. "DO NOT JUDGE OTHER PEOPLE." (Judge not, lest ye be judged.) 20. "DO NOT GIVE HOLY THINGS TO DOGS OR CAST YOUR PEARLS BEFORE SWINE." 21. "ASK GOD FOR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO HAVE." (Seek, and ye shall find.) 22. "FEED THE HUNGRY, CLOTHE THE NAKED, SHELTER THE HOMELESS, COMFORT THOSE IN DISTRESS." 23. "FOLLOW THE NARROW PATH TO LIFE." (Enter by the narrow gate.) 24. "BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS." 25. "EXERCISE POWER OVER UNCLEAN SPIRITS." 26. "LOVE LITTLE CHILDREN, DO NOT DESPISE THEM." 27. "DO NOT TAKE THE TITLES 'MASTER' OR 'FATHER' FOR YOURSELF." 28. "RESOLVE DISPUTES IN AN ORDERLY WAY, LIKE THIS . . . " 29. "DO NOT OPPOSE OTHER BELIEVERS IN CHRIST WHO ARE NOT IN YOUR GROUP." (stop denomination bashing!) 30. "HAVE TOTAL FAITH IN GOD FOR EVERYTHING." 31. "BE LIKE THE GOOD SAMARITAN." (Go, and do likewise.) 32. "LOVE OTHER PEOPLE AS I HAVE LOVED YOU" 33. "EAT BREAD AND DRINK WINE IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME." 34. "WASH ONE ANOTHER'S FEET." 35. "BE MERCIFUL." 36. "GO AND TEACH ALL NATIONS." 37. "KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS." 38. "BE PREPARED FOR YOUR MASTER TO RETURN."
Rick, like I said, mohammed knew the Bible well, he liberally took from it what suited him. What did not suit him was that Jesus died upon the cross was ressurected. This is the entire purpose of the His becoming flesh. Just because mo took a couple sayings that everyone knew does not mean they worship anyone even closely resembling Jesus. IN fact they do not. Everything in the OT points to His sacrifice and slaughter upon the tree for our sins. mo simply don't know
I've never heard a Muslim say what their exact view of Jesus was like. I always hear the same things...you know. That he was not the son of god, and that he didn't die...but I don't really care about the differences. I'm just interested in knowing if the Koran paints the same sort of forgiving and 'moral' man that I see in the gospel. Exporing the particular attribute and behaviours I numerated. It doesn't appear many muslims are willing to answer this question (in my experience) or perhaps they just don't know the gospel to qualify that statement. *shrug* I've asked this numerous times, and I never get a good answer. I'm sure there is one, but personal I have no huge interest in learning from the Koran if their prophet wasn't so appealing to me--historically. I figure he's the 'shining' example of the religion,...to me Jesus in the gospel is far more appealing.
If Muhammad told Muslims that they should listen to Jesus then why don't they listen to him when he said that he is the first and the last and that no one will come after him?
