I have not heard many people talk about Internet Regulation lately. As you know everything in life is regulated by rules . The internet happens to be growing at a alarming speed Worldwide these past 10 years. The internet is relatively new and mostly rule free. Lets not forget the internet was used by GOVERNMENTS before going mainstream to the public. Do you think future governments worldwide should put regulations on when people can purchase websites? You have to be say over 18 years old. Should the governments have the right to close down your website? Should governments regulate people like Wiki-leaks founders for leaking information about other governments? What about governments cracking down on spam mail by putting regulations on it? In the USA the patriot act under George Bush allowed the American government to wire tap anyone they wanted. Should they be able to look through your root folder any time they want? Should governments regulate tracers on ads that pop up or under? Regulate on hackers that hack into websites and put links inside html files? Should governments worldwide some time in the future put regulations on the internet???????? Lets not forget in America democrats love big government and rules. The internet happens to be one of the freest tools in the world with no jurisdiction.
right now there are so many loopholes. many things not legal in a region could be done online. we sure would expect some more laws making sure it becomes safer place. this probably require more of a global initiative.
wtf you are talking about? how would it be possible? do you know what internet is? It is not just one computer in my basement you know.
I guess you cant read when I say goverments with a s that means regulating worldwide. Maybe a certain government could put a regulation on the internet for their country. For example a certain country U.S.A forcing a U.S.A regulated company to stop a service or website services globally.... You see now... That could be for any country not just U.S.A.
Quite easy really. All data is piped through governmental computers. Country B places a filter that won't allow Country B's subjects to access your site, no matter where it is hosted. The IP is added to a list of banned sites & that's it. Here in Australia most are against this regulation tactic and I believe almost cost a good government re-election at the last ballot. There are ways around it, proxy etc., but the majority of web users don't know how to use a comp let alone set up a proxy so most will not be able to break it.
they can block access to the site from local ISPs, but they hardly can close the site even if there are international grounds to do that. E.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pirate_Bay
And why is that the only rule that heavily reinforced is : no CP . Stupid stuff is banned by nature on most websites and there's a collective opinion regarding most thing on the net . Why would we need further rules ?
You can't regulate the internet because it's multi-territorial. The only rule that seems to be some what effective is that depending on the servers you are connected to and there locations, you are now govened by that countries laws, in the same way if you were physically visting the country. Even then you can't go arresting people from other countries, then best thing you can work with is some kind of extradition treaty and that's it.
