A 'go' box is something like your own search engine and the only different is that, you are controlling the search for each term or sentence. Emerging this 'Go' box script with your adsense link, you will be able to create an array of informations that your visitors may want to discover... And when they do that, it helps to boost your adsense too. Here is the script: <SCRIPT language=JavaScript> <!-- Begin function formHandler(form){ var URL = document.form.site.optionsdocument.form.site. selectedIndex.value; window.location.href = URL; } // End --> </SCRIPT> <FORM name=form> <SELECT size=1 name=site> <OPTION value="" selected>Other Interest.. <OPTION value="http://YourGoogleSearchLinkHere">freebies <OPTION value="http://YourGoogleSearchLinkHere">free downloads </OPTION> </SELECT> <INPUT onclick=javascript:formHandler(this) type=button value=Go!> </FORM> How to get your adsense link? First, you need to go to your adsense account and copy/paste your adsense search box onto your website. Type, freebies for an example in your adsense search box. A new window will appear. In the brower of that new window, you will see your adsense search link. Copy/paste the entire link in the script (in red) above. Viola! Your own 'Go' box with adsense link is integrated!
But by doing this how will increase your page impression . Correct me if i am saying thing wrong . As far as i understand you are hardcoding the links.
I always think of a simple innovative way to maximise my adsense account and before doing such, I always review adsense TOS whether what I would be doing is against the TOS. First, lets take a look at the google adsense search box that you can place on your site or Google home page search box. When users search for a term, freebies for an example, a new window will open when the search in use by using your Google Adsense search box and a new page will open when using Google home page search engine. When users start to like the results that are shown on both, they will probably bookmark it. But the question is, the are bookmarking the entire search link that shows the result right? Bookmarking is the similar to copy/paste a link to your favourite, that only thing that is different is that, Bookmark or Add to Favourite is done automatically. Second to the above, some users would probably refer to his/hers collegues about the same link that they have got for referrence. By doing so, implementing a 'Go' box to input such behaviour is practically not an issue unless you are the one who has an adsense account persuade the third party to click on it (or may be you could have been clicking your own adsense). Secondly, I copy/paste exactly the same result link into the script above without adjusting anything neither do I hardcoding or cloacking the link. I just want to control the search result by users who want to look for a term 'freebies' or 'free downloads' that will lead back to google adsense search result link. I know Google has 'ears and nose' to smell all fraudters' tricks. But I believe, the script does help in one way or the other to improve my adsense account because I do not persuade visitors to click my adsense, instead leading them to a more general term 'freebies' that they can get the result fast in Google. Just like your Adsense Ad Layouts that you have placed on your site, you do not persuade the third party to click, but the ads itself make your visitors to click.
I see what you mean, how you are just providing information from the google search, only on the topics that you prescribe. The only thing that may be wrong with it, if anything, is that your sort of forcing your viewer to only search using those terms you provide; I'm not sure but that might be against the TOS.
from G-TOS : From this I think that this method is against the TOS. Or maybe I have interpreted erroneously the TOS?
you are basically pre-populating the adsense search box with the terms you recommend/relevant to your site? am i correct? if so, it's against Google TOS. i've asked them this very question before and they said it's not allowed. actually, i think what you are doing is quite different but i don't think google will like it still
Devbistro and the rest, thanks for all the responses... I'm glad to have yet an overall review about this... Some said it was okay cos the implementation looked similar to Adsense Ad_Layout (I believe all of you u/stand what I'm trying to say), some said it was not ok (similar to quote above). To be frank, Google Adsense TOS are 'interpreted' differently in many countries even tho evreything are written in English and the transparency of such TOS are rather opaque to many webmasters who have different understanding of English. Believe me, I did mail to Google about this discovery and yet to get a response. So far, Adsense service has been very good for me and maximising adsense income in a professional way and legal are the top priorities to all webmasters alike. May be such script if if use wisely, will benefit many in a different way.. If it is against Google Adsense TOS, then, don't use it. But use it to better your other commission... Thanks all.... p.s. "I see what I see, I hear what I hear, I do what others do best, I follow what makes other succeed, I give what I know is true..."
Hi, guys first time poster on the forum and i found the site very informative and thought it has some interesting reads, including this topic! So is this "Go box" already been put to use by some members or is this definitely not allowed?
Bottom line is it's against TOS. If you do it and get caught don't come crying here with a "I just got banned" post.
Thanks for the firm "Heads up" just wanted to know if there where any members putting this feature up on their site? Obviously not. I'm not the kind of person that cry's easily.
There's nothing stopping you creating your own search boxes and displaying ads on the results page, is there? It's just the Google for Search you aren't allowed to play with. No? Pete
I think you did the right thing contacting Google. If they give you the go ahead, then proceed, if not, well scrap it. I am guessing they are going to red light it. But you will not know until you ask.
I can't make a comment until I can see a sample page using this script.... Could you direct us to a sample page?
So what about this site? http://webdesign.about.com/od/graphics/ There is a small section that states "offers" in the left navigation bar, they also contain links to pages that solely contain adsense ads So how is this different with the go box principle? The landing page contains nothing else then adsense ads I don't know if anybody asked or tried this but if you mention near the search box that they are "sponsered links" or "Ads by Google" it shouldn't be a problem...about.com also has a "go box" in a way, only without the drop down menu but the principle is the same you have the search link from google put in the link on a page. What's the difference putting it in a drop down menu or in a static menu in your navigation bar? As you can see it's being done, only without the drop menu but it's the same. What Lister forgot to mention or didn't think of is to put a statement near the drop menu that tells people that they are sponsered links or Ads by google or like about.com did say they are offers with a clarification pop-up window that explains what "offers" are. Just my point of view and must not be implemented without consulting G first offcourse but has someone consulted G about this? I don't see anything mentioned in the thread. I am not registered with the AS program yet so otherwise i would have but if i do register this is something that i would like clarification about, it sure would be a nice addition to implement!
You can't look at about.com and say "they did it so I will do it too". They are a VERY premium publisher and can do things that other publishers are not allowed to do.
Get a 20 or 30 million pages views per month, then email Google to see what they will do for you. Until then you could use your time much better than this.
tlainevool wrote: Ok, i see your point - premium publishers have other options then the average publisher, didn't thought of the premium side of it. Thanks for the clarification. MattL wrote: Listen i don't know what your angle is but first you give me a hostile "don't come crying" comment and know you are telling me i am wasting my time asking the questions i am asking I'm exploring my possibilities for using adsense on my site and because you have all the answers doesn't mean that i do, so i don't see any time wasted asking the questions that i am asking! You must be the kind of person that is present on any kind of forum, the kind that thrives on these kind of comments, act and respond in the way you would like to get threated, and i presume you like a normal decent discussion just as the next person. I'm not your pet dog you can talk down to!!
Didn't mean to come off harsh...just a little cranky about some forum related business stuff this week I guess. Or it could be the tone this forum has taken lately. It's been getting pretty negative here. Feel free to read all of my posts here, I think you will find 99% of them upbeat and helpful (except for the last week or so . I didn't mean you're wasting your time asking questions about this (although you may be). I meant you might be wasting your time trying to manipulate Adsense code/results when it's clearly against the TOS and can get you banned. Why use your time to try to do something that is against TOS and probably won't give you much return anyway? That's my point. I like your response though LOL
