Hi, let me just say quickly that I made a thread in the reviews section that additionally asked for advice on how to market, but the thread's got no responses so far, so I thought I should post here too. The link is http://bit.ly/dL2XYL, so check it out for yourself (please refrain from posting the proper url further on in this thread as I do not wish for this post to be indexed). I need to know how to market (draw traffic) to the site. I've owned more websites than I can remember over the years, but 99% have eventually failed due to a lack of marketing. What do I do? # Post comments on Beavis and Butt-head related YouTube videos with my link? # Try and add my link to sites such as blinx and other streaming websites? # Contact Beavis and Butt-head websites with offers of a link exchange? # What else? Also, are the above ideas any good or not? I'm a marketing noob and I need help with so considerably. A big thanks in advanced for any help, it's greatly appreciated! John
all things you mentioned are good. but to put some extra power to your marketing campaign then i suggest article marketing.
hey! i like beavis and butt-head! maybe you can try a sample clip on youtube and link it to your site. easy methods that work for me are blog commenting and creating profile links. try social bookmarking/network too.
Article Marketing Press Releases Blog Commenting Forum Posts and Participation Contests FaceBook Page Video Marketing Social Marketing/Networking SEO Google Adwords (anything similar) Twitter Myspace Social Bookmarking There are a few other things, but I'm sure you get the general idea here.
How would article marketing work for a site such as mine? I don't think it would be of any benefit in my case, unless i'm wrong? Great to see another fan! Yeah a sample clip on YouTube could work I don't think blog commenting would work in this instance as Beavis and Butt-head related blog posts are very few and far between. I feel that you and the first replier (Giamatti) haven't taken my site into consideration and have just recommended generic marketing tips, some of which may not work on my site. Eg. Article Marketing, press releases, blog commenting, forum posts and participation, and contests wouldn't work. I do however like your Video Marketing tip (same as bibsky above), that may work. Massive thanks to everyone that's replied so far. Any other replies, specific to my needs rather than generic? I'm in desperate need of help so far.
Do you know anything about article marketing? or submitting Press Releases? Gaining Authority, backlinks, Quality Content, Google Love and exposure? I do understand that your looking for help, but you might want to do a little more research if you think what I mentioned above wouldn't help... Those techniques are KICK ASS! By far almost the best techniques that still work...
Its sometimes good to start with a Squidoo Lense, then build on your promotion with some social linking, twitter posts, maybe to a You Tube video that is not related but very funny then show the URL at the end of video, or a really short URL that links back to the site. Great Niche by the way... always loved those guys
Yes, and I understand them enough to see that article marketing and submitting a press release for a BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD site is ridiculous. Agreed, but for my site? No. Don't get me wrong I'm not being ungrateful for your spending your free time helping me, but I don't appreciate canned responses either. Okay that sounds helpful! I'll try a Squidoo lense too. Haha, thanks! Anyone else?
Here are a few articles and Press Releases on the "NEW Beavis and Butt-Head" resurrection! http://theweek.com/article/index/205040/the-return-of-beavis-and-butt-head http://www.buddytv.com/articles/king-of-the-hill/beavis-and-butt-head-back-on-m-37578.aspx http://tv.ign.com/articles/110/1104511p1.html http://www.chartattack.com/news/201...heh-heh-returning-to-television-heh-heh-snort http://www.salon.com/life/feature/2010/07/15/beavis_and_butt_head_return
Hey John, I think that you shouldn't discard the traditional marketing suggestions in the previous replies because a lot of them with a bit of adaption and creativity would work. My 2 suggestions are: 1. Video marketing(as this is a visual product). YouTube is great but you can go further and get more links to your site by submitting your videos to other video sharing sites like vimeo.com; metacafe.com; or trafficgeyserseo.com which offer a 30 day free trial but they will submit your video to every decent video sharing site on the planet. 2. You could set up a Beavis and Butthead related Facebook fan page. If people start talking about your site then it will go viral and bring loads of traffic back to your landing page. Hope this helps. Good Luck Remember "Success comes with Perseverance" Hughsie
Bloody amazing! I had started to compile a list (albeit a more crappy one) with the intention of blog commenting, but that's a massive help. Thanks for going out of your way buddy +rep Hey Hughsie, That's a good suggestion. As an example of what I think you're saying, I could submit full episodes (or other related videos) that are actually what the viewer is looking for, then throw in my URL somewhere (rather than a spam video). The Facebook fan page is something I have done for other sites with varying degrees of success, but never really had a site that has the potential to explode. I think Beavis and Butt-head could be a massive group/page, I just don't know why I hadn't thought of it before. I think, much like before, a good idea would be NOT to create a group called "My Website Title/URL" (not saying the actual url for indexing purposes), but to create a "Beavis and Butt-head Fans" group which features my link in a prominent place. The difference being that I'm creating a page that would yield more interest, and from more people than a less covert advertisement page. Does that make sense or am I rambling? I've gotten them ideas from your post - I know you haven't said anything like that specifically but I gather that's what you're implying - please correct me if I'm wrong. Hughsie, you too have been a great help, especially for your first post. I've given you a +rep (positive reputation), looking forward to seeing you around these parts. Also nice to see a fellow Brit on the boards! Regards, John.
Hughsie, i need a British opinion on another thread regarding the site. Do me a favour and make a reply on the following topic buddy, if it ain't too much trouble: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2033641 Don't mean to take the piss, in fact it's the opposite - I regard you as the perfect person I need a response from, don't mean to put you to any trouble. Thanks again, John.
I am capable, if presented with a list of methods that would work for me. Okay thanks, it looks like the majority of you are saying video marketing. Also, you're one of the only ones that brought up SEO which is good. I've installed a wordpress SEO plugin to take care of onsite matters for me
Hi John, The Facebook fan page or Facebook group is an excellent way to go about getting some instant attention. All you need once you've created the page is 25 fans and then you can hop over to www.facebook.com/username/ and apply for a customised domain link like facebook.com/beavisandbutthead(not available but you can get creative and jig the name a bit to make yours unique). Then there are endless ways to get people back to that page for example put the link in other forums, on your site, on your blog, in your articles, press releases, video sharing etc etc etc. This should all help you to get some traffic not only to your fanpage but backlinks to your site which will add wait to your SEO and indexing through the search engines. Just hopped onto Google and typed in "beavis and butthead forums" which yielded a search return of 170 000 sites ranking for the Beavis and Butthead niche. Better get cracking on that fanpage and get your facebook link on as many of them as possible. Thanks for +rep vote of confidence. Look forward to chatting further. Cheers Hughsie
