I was surfing the channels and saw the Kill Bill movie starting. I never had the chance to watch it, so I grabbed some popcorn and decided to see it. Took me 15 minutes to be completely digusted and turn off the TV. What kind of sick mind could create a movie like that?
That sick mind would be Quentin Tarentino. Just about everything he's done lately has been in a "Kill Bill" style it seems. Even the season finale of CSI that he directed... It was pretty good, except the heavily inspired 5-6 minutes seem that looked like something right out of Kill Bill and did nothing to help the story along... It was just there for shock factor, if anything. You made the right choice just shoutting it off though. It never really got any better after the first 15 minutes...
It really depends if you're a fan of the old style Hong Kong film industry martial arts flicks. They had so many scenes with comically excessive blood which Tarantino tried to emulate (he apparently even borrowed from Anime). For most people, it's love/hate at first sight.
I thought Kill Bill was ok. The most disgusting film, that isn't labeled by disgusting, is Oasis. What I mean by that is some movies go out of their way to have gore in them and be tagged gory. Do not ever rent Oasis. I watched part of it a couple of months ago. It's tagged as a Korean mismatch love story. The mismatch, however, is because the guy is an ex-convict and the girl has severe cerebral palsy. There are some things you can’t unsee.
I couldn't agree more with you. I am still waiting for a movie from him that I can actually watch it and enjoy it.
I like his movies... Kill Bill volume 1 and 2, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, etc. Definitely has his own style... If nothing else, his movies are "unique".
I agree. His films have a different and new style that really impress you the first time you watch it but not as interesting the second time. Both Pulp fiction and Kill Bill volume 1 has the wow feeling.
Pulp fiction was a great movie, it is now a classic, but Kill Bill just made me want to puke. There are better ways of representing violence without entering the gore world. Natural Born Killers is one of my favorite movies, it is a masterpiece of violence, but even that seems like a kiddy movie against Kill Bill.
Kill Bill is in the vein of old blood spurting kung fu movies. It's not really that bad. Because it's not terribly realistic, it's almost cartoonish. Sin City is like that, except that it is filmed completely differently (a description would not even do it justice), and is much, MUCH more disturbing. (Tarantino has a small hand in it, directed one scene, iirc). Ever seen any of John Water's movies? Like Pink Flamingos or Desperate Living? Heh, I'd think kill bill would pale in comparison.
As far as a fun disgusting movie, JackAss tops the list, but you have to be of a certain mindset to be able to sit through it and laugh. It's definitely not for everyone. For a stomach turning experience that will haunt you forever, it would have to be Faces of Death - any one of them. That was truly created by a very sick person.
Faces of Death... that's more like a documentary, or clips of real events. Kind of sad that the most disturbing thing of all is reality, not the hollywood attempt at violence and disturbing topics. But as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction.
Some of those faces of death shows are pretty nasty I like tarrintios movies, I think jackie brown and pulp fiction were way better movies then kill bill. As for disgusting , to me stuff has to seem real to be disgusting. Like texas chainsaw massacre, of that stuff was sort of raw. I heard this movie called audition is supposed to be pretty sick, I got it in my netflix que.
Love kill bill. The first scene where he shoots the bride in the back of the head is great. I always end up rewinding that scene and watching it over and over again.
He lives in OC, they see that stuff all the time in their neighborhoods. Thats why it doesn't bother him any. LOL - Maybe I shouldn't LOL cause you may think that I think the ruthless killing is OK... Some people enjoy watching the beheading on the internet also...
i used to think that tarantino is a genius in film making, but seeing kill bill definitely changed my mind. i think he forgot that in doing a truly violent film takes more than just blood and gore. violence needs art in order to become a masterpiece.
I have seen recent interviews with him and he seems disturbed. Of course it is called excentric because he is a celebrity. If he wasn't, he'd be just another weirdo
