Hi, I am planning on to switch to a VPS at some point as I plan to increase traffic to my site. Am currently on Hostgator shared hosting and don't know whether their semi-dedicated plan is good, it's pricey though. Btw, can someone tell me the difference between VPS and semi-dedicated? Anyway, can someone recommend me 1-2 providers who offer VPS and are generous on CPU and memory usage? Cheers Michael
I'd say go for surfspeedy. I have a 512-VPS plan there and they are pretty good at what they do. Here's the link: http://www.surfspeedy.com/managed_dedicated_hosting/cpanel-vps.htm
Ops, I forgot that. Hopefully they open it soon, because I plan on upgrading from shared hosting to VPS.
Thanks heaps for all responses. Servint looks very good and professional. Will also take a look at Steadfast. Cheers Michael
I was somewhat happy with Powervps, in the end however my VPS was constantly down or slow. This month alone they cost me at least 2-3 days worth of downtime! They never took responsiblity for it either, no appology, no refund, simply awful. Servint on the other hand has been rock stable. I run the same software on servint as I ran on powervps. The compiling/run time on servint is literally 10x faster than powervps. Ping times are so much better with servint. Not even a question in my mind go with servint. My vps there is even quicker in some ways than my fully dedicated server!
Would recommend you to have a look at: www.hostmaven.com Pretty rock solid support and services. Don't forget to check the reviews on any of the shortlisted host at WHT. All the best in host hunt!
try www.a2b2.com they have a package called Your Server/Your Price I've been using their services for couple days and I am happy with it, reliable support and pretty cheap If you want to sign up use my ref: Johan
Servint seems to be very popular! I have read a number of threads here and it seems this is hot. I'll have to check them out.
