Question about directory submissions

Discussion in 'Directories' started by Cabrelle, Nov 21, 2010.

  1. #1
    I need some clarification.

If I own xxxx.com as blog/homepage and xxxx.com/forums as the forum and submit each URL to 1,000 directories, will both URL's be submitted or will it show as duplicate submissions since it's the same domain?

    Thanks

I always assumed that you should only submit the main URL not sub directories.

Perhaps the sumission rules of a directory site will help clarify your question?

I'd say it's about 50/50, some will say it's a duplicate but others will allow it.

some directory will actually check the homepage. and that it will assume that the domain has been submitted already. so you have to try to make sure for each directory. its worth trying anyway.

Depends from directory to directory. Many of them allow submitting sub-domains or sub-sections of your site. You can select a proper sub-category for forums & blogs and submit in directories allowing these submissions.

Read the submission rules for each directory. Some allow it, but I would say the majority do not allow 1) more than one link and 2) links other than the homepage.

It really depends on what the directory owner allows. If they are actually maintaining and editing their directory, chances are both sites will be treated as the same site, unless there are specific differences and categorical locations that differ enough to warrant placement more than once.

It's really dependent on what the directory owner allows... this varies greatly.
