Thought of starting a new post for those who just build websites and dont consider SEO while building the site.

Below is what i do on a newly developed website to quickly get it indexed by google and then start on the lifelong journey of climbing the ranking ladder.

1- For a newly developed website make sure to proof read it as many times as you can before even uploading to the server. Its always better to get a 2nd pair of eye to do some proof reading, my experience .
2-Unique Title Tags for each and every page you may have.
    3-HTACESS file for 301 redirect
4-Normal ON page SEO, not going to elaborate or the post will be like 4 pages long
    5-Google Analytics and Google Webmaster
6-Once all the above is done, than i would upload it to the server.
7-Depending on the website topic, i will select couple of forums and directories.
8-Yahoo answers is a must for quickly getting your site indexed.

You can get your site indexed in 1-2 days, if you just do forum posting and yahoo answers.my guarantee

9-Submit Site map only after a month or 2 when you have finalized everything.

Looking for some alternate suggestions and your ways of SEO'ing a newly developed site

I agree with most of the things you wrote. But before all that a real success requires a throughout research of your market and the key-words you want (and can) target. Not only in terms of link building (i.e anchor text), but for the entire build up of the website (content, text, structure).

From a recent Rand Fishkins Article here are some additions:
    Register with bing webmaster tools
    Test site with different browsers
Email your friends / contacts about the launch
& Create site's social media accounts & connect with them

For full article just google for 'launching a new website 18 steps'

    Best :)

Looks good. I also like to get some additional bookmarks from the likes of DIGG and REDDIT, etc. If the site is related to an area you are active in, tweeting doesn't hurt I guess. For the sitemap, I tend to use Wordpress, so a plugin like Google XML Sitemaps is a great. It will keep your sitemap updated, and you can always resubmit a sitemap if you submit one before all your content is up (although not sure why you would).

Looks good. Here's my checklist for creating a new website.

    1. Proofread
    2. analytics, advertisements, fix HTML
    3. Make SEF
    4. Make redirects
    5. make sure all titles and everything reflect website
    6. upload
    7. Create content
    8. More content
    9. Never enough content
    10. Create backlinks through forums, blogs, related sites
    11. Submit sitemaps
    12. Wait
    13. Remove occasional spam if applicable

Kind of like yours, but I try to tell people that if they think they have enough content, write some more and then release it over the next 3-4 months or so and then write some more, repeat and repeat.
    Also, re-submit your sitemaps often.

I agree all your list, additional if your site is new avoid making a pattern links every day. Example 10 active links on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday ... Google will detect it and treated an auto backlinking.

You can build as many links as you want to the site as long as you have some with actual pr on them because Google will not find all of your links at once. Mass profile links alone will not help you rank vs an authority site that has these kinds of links. You need to learn how to actually get pr links and this will make future endeavors easier.

I am agree with the above mentioned points, but you should not forget about the market research.

For any business to thrive, it is pertinent to chalk out a marketing plan with clear vision and dedication. You should spend some time on budgeting, set milestones and then start with your on-page, off-page or paid marketing stuff.

yes my problem with a new site is not getting indexed, that works quickly, my problem is to get out of google sandbox and start receiving a good amount of visitors and not have google limit artificially the number of visitors it sends compared to the amount of original content I have.
That is happening to me with my new site in sig, I launched it on 5th october, now after one month I have several hundreds users posting over a thousand original content pages, I have many backlinks (because of a referral program) and still the traffic is too limited by Google. It's slow getting out of google sandbox, any tips regarding that? Just wait?
