Google to offer domain registrations

Google announced on Thursday evening that a domain name search and registration service will be added to its Google Apps for Your Domain offering.

I didn't, but actually, as far as I understand it, you don't register with Google. You register with GoDaddy or eNom through Google.

i've gone there with my google account. haven't been able to signup for any additional domains via google though... big press statements about it but maybe they're working on the interface... dunno

NO Google has just received a ICANN accreditation status to register domains. They will just use it in the background and will not compete with eNom or goDaddy. even Microsoft has that status they apparently use that for their search-engine purpose.

even Yahoo! is into this business long before G but are other out of the market . I don't see G entering the retail direct market.

Don't they already offer these tools for domain names? What's the point of registering the domain names with them then.

kind of a confusing press statement then. they said for $10 you can register domains via google and use their services for the domain (mail/etc). i'm guessing the statement came out before the services rolled out... Guess it's google domains beta?
