Why sitemap is so important, and how can I submite it to google?

I am starting a new site, but I do not know how to make my sitemap. Is it so important? and how can I make it and submit it to google?

A sitemap is a way of telling search engines of all the new pages from your site. It is very important to have one for your site. You can use the Webmaster tools from google to submit one or you can manually notify google of content changes from your site with their "ping" option.

How to notify site changes to Google?

 

Sitemap tells Google bot where to crawl your site. Example your index.html is easy to find and that's what Google would add in search engine. But if you have more content than just index.html, Google needs a little bit of help, and you can speed up that process with submitting your sitemaps to Google webmaster tools. When you add em, Google is going to ping em, so it's going to get new and more informations about your site every time you submit new content to your sitemaps.

 

there are plugins for wp that will make a sitemap for you and theres also plugins to submit them too i believe

 

I haven't sitemap on my site but google indexed my new page and post in short time, I used wordpress

 

i installed phpbb3 with premod seo . do i need any seo plugins ? and i sont know how to install google sitemap in phpbb3. pls someone help me do to that. thanks.

 

Because Wordpress has good ping service. You can find the plugin named Google Sitemap Generator Plugin for WordPress by Arne Brachhold.

 

There are actually 2 different thinks you want to do for a sitemap.
For Google creating a XML sitemap helps get more of your pages indexed faster - using a wordpress plugin such as Arne Brachhold's as already suggested.
This creates info Google can see and read - but nothing for your visitors

But you might also want to create an Index or Site Map page for your site so that you have links from one page to every other page on your site.
This helps SEO and gives you a single hub page you can send visitors to with other links.

Just install the plugin and add a new page to your blog with a title Index, Site Map or anything else you like and in the content box (after selecting HTML tab!!!) add
