You may have seen ads on TV for this. It's a campaign involving people like Nelson Mandela and Bono to get better aid, debt cancellation and trade justice for 3rd world countries.

We are getting ready here in Scotland to embrace around 1 million people in Edinburgh as the G8 summit begins at Gleneagles. Hopefully making poverty history will be 1 of the major topics for discussion. If the debt of the poorest countries can be cancelled this could do a lot to help these people.

U2 is playing for a few days here starting today and they will be shutting out the lights and announcing the number to text a donation to. They are hoping the glow from 50,000 Mobile phones will light the stadium.

A bit corny but worthwhile.

 

Yes. Like the Concert for Bangladesh, the BandAid concerts, the FarmAid concerts, and the AIDS support concerts, it's nice to see people who can stepping forward. I doubt that we'll ever stamp out poverty, injustice, disease, or tyranny, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying.

The campaign is gathering momentum this weekend and the 1st of July I think is the day it's all leading up to.

Their catch cry seems to be 'we don't want your money, we want your voice' with the focus on influencing world leaders.

Sunday, Bono is on NBC's "Meet the Press" to discuss the potential for a real breakthrough in the fight against poverty at the G8. And Bob Geldof appears on CBS's "Sunday Morning" to talk about the Live 8 concerts and what they can do to help President Bush reach an historic agreement to help those most in need around the world.

I've put around 4k in coop weight behind each banner... given it's only for 7 days, if you are able to put some weight behind it, please do... especially during this week.

 

My client sells those Make Poverty History Bands as well. 50p of the £2 goes to charity. Let me know if you want 1 and I'll see if he's got any left.

I have put 3000ish at the term Poverty. Eradicating poverty is an important cause and the One Campaign needs all the help it can get.

That was from the UK site, I couldn't find anything on the US site, only banners not the strip.

 

As far as advertising goes, that strip is pretty darn cool isn't it.

It's the same one I use on my site, I just deleted the noscript section though.
