    Hey there,

    The bottom line:

I am running a contest for digital artwork designs to put on my 8' x 2' beer pong tables.

    Details:

The niche of beer pong revolves around college kids, so I expect the artwork designs to be cheerful, colorful, bright, cool and college-like. Here are a few examples that I really like:

    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p3-Vixens-8-Beer-Pong-Table.html

    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p1-Greens-8-Beer-Pong-Table.html

    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p5-Eight-Ball-8-Beer-Pong-Table.html

    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p9-Protour-7.5-Beer-Pong-Table.html

    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p4-Nightmare-8-Beer-Pong-Table.html

    The contest rules:

    - Your artwork has to be original

    - I will accept any horizontal entry with proportions 4:1 (i.e. the length of the artwork should be 4 times its width)

    - Please post your results in the thread for everybody else to see. (if you want to protect yourself against plagiarism just put a "sample" watermark on your design)

    - The contest ends in about a week from now. (Tuesday the 14th @ 11:00 pm pacific time)

    - The first prize is $40 and the second prize is $30. These prizes are guaranteed.

    - I will also pay $20 to each runner up whose I really like their work. (Example: if I like 3 more entries I ll pay $20/each. If I like no more entries, I will only pay the first two etc...)

    - I will provide feedback upon request.

    - Please avoid sending me PM's. If you have to say something, please say it on the thread here.

    - I will pay upfront and through paypal.

    - Finally, I want the final product to be of great resolution, as it's intended to be placed on a 8ft x 2ft table!

    Good luck to everyone! ;-)

    Hey zasul,

Unfortunately, I am not a designer so I can't create a template. But the dimensions of the table are 8ft x 2ft so your design should be 4:1.

Also, in each side there is a triangle for 10 typical party cups:
    http://static.www.odcdn.com/pictures/us/od/sk/lg/798114_sk_lg.jpg

The diameter of each party cup space should be 3.8 inches. So, each side of the triangle should be about 16 inches long (that's two thirds of the small side).

    I hope that helps,

Best of luck with your entry,

    Duncan

Jtoms, first of all thank you for your entry!

As I said above, the triangle is equilateral and each of its sides are 16 inches long. (And since the width of the table is 2 feet = 24 inches, that means that the back side of the triangle should be 2/3 of the back side of the table)

Feedback on your entry: Your work - although not so college-like - is not bad. However, I would try to make the triangle "blend-in" in the whole graphic (maybe by using similar colors).
Remember, that the triangle is huge part of the identity of the table.

Good designer, thank you for your entry too!

Feedback on your entry: Like jtoms' entry, yours is kind of too generic and less college oriented, although it's not bad either. Also, you have to make your dimensions 4:1 (i.e. the length of the picture should be 4 times its width) and add a triangle too. (Again, the triangle's sides should be about 2/3 of the table's small side).

I hope this feedback helps but feel free to ask me more questions if you have any, and I will be happy to answer!

    Feedback for your entry:
    1) The dimensions of the table look about right now.
    2) The triangles are too big. Remember that their sides should be exactly two-thirds of the small side of the table.
    3) Also, the triangles look kind of stiff in this white color. They have to blend in with the rest of the artwork.
    Here's a great example:
    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p4-Nightmare-8-Beer-Pong-Table.html

    I hope this helps!

Jtoms, to be honest with you I like your first entry far more! The second one is a bit too simplistic. So, why don't you work on the triangles of your first entry? (And then if you have the time you can try for a second entry as well?

Good designer, that's better, thank you.

    A quick note for everybody:

I generally like the designs so far, but I am not particularly impressed with the triangles.

Could you make them more fancy looking, either by placing circular party-cup spots or by adding some individual artwork inside of them?

    For example:

    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p5-Eight-Ball-8-Beer-Pong-Table.html

    or

    http://www.beer-pong-table.net/p3-Vixens-8-Beer-Pong-Table.html

(In this one see for example, observe how perfectly the triangles match the whole design!)

    Thank you!

    Duncan

Yeah, that's the idea... (I can't say I am blown away with the quality of the artwork though. I liked your
first approach more, even though I really appreciate you trying bring the college spirit on your work)
