I have been participating in the contest section of Forums, mostly great experience - Yet I have notice the contest for less money seem to be better and the CH seems more concern about the design and quality rather than just declaring a winner, Anyone else notice something similar or maybe something different - What's your take on Contest here?

How could they get worse? How could they get better?

    Please remember DP rules

OFF Topic - I like your avatar! Cool! :)

People would tend to like contests with less money because they think it's more legit than having big prizes which they can tend to think of as scam.

Is it you? Looks like Ke$ha to me. :D lol.

Well having big prizes draw lots of attention and DP already had its share of scammers left and right so people are quite skeptical if they ever see a contest with a huge pot money involved. Still, it would be good if they are legit because the participants will always pull the extra effort in aiming to win (quality wise).

I don't know about the other type of contest but with the design contest I think DP artist do better work for the lower prizes, it seems the higher ones get less quality and seem bogus@vibinhari - its a likeness@Grimm - @Achiever - they don't pay you as they don't make enough money or they don't pay you as you don't get chosen - or even both or else neither?

Well maybe because if you want something for a lower price - throw in a contest. I think it rarely happens that someone throws in a contest with a big pot money, maybe because instead of putting up a contest, they'll just have a very good designer do all his graphics and spend that money on him.

before I enter a contest of $100or more I used to go through all the contests previously held by him... then I decide whether or not to bother designing. I'm no great designer.. just do it for a bit of fun, but the logos that are being designed for $10 are just plain disgusting

I personally have participated in A LOT of contests, and contests with a "decent" prize attract my attention much more than extreme high payouts. Maybe it's because I have paranoia? I don't really know.

I've probably entered a few hundred DP contests in my time here - but I've moved away from it now. It's a great place to learn how to design, but not such a good place to make money. Subsequently I departed from the (rather addicting) habit of entering dozens of contests, and I now work as a full time designer. I picked up everything I know from contests as well as about a thousand dollars. You'll also find if you enter contests that people start PMing you for work, so it's a good springboard to find oppertunities. Personally I think that if there was a template that CH's were obliged to use, then the quality of contests would be much greater - no more 'I need a logo for www.affordablesolutions.com. $10. 2 days.'

    :)

Great stuff everyone, the CH template idea - that would be nice - yet the forum seems to be an open one; and sometimes brief descriptions shortness come from translation issues so template might be nice maybe someone could create some in this thread or another and the community could decide? - I note @vibinhari researching others threads might help there have been a few contest where I should have; yet sometimes that would not be reliable, maybe a person learned from their mistake maybe their feedback has been bogus who knows - overall I enjoy contest - what is disgusting the price at 10 or that members do the work at 10 dollars - leaving it open that it can be done though I still think the lower price contest have better work and the CH seems to be more serious
