It is an invisible filter that prevents newly set up domains and websites getting high ranking positions in a short period of time.

    Hi,
The Sandbox Effect is the theory that websites with newly-registered domains (or with pages yet to receive a PageRank calculation) are placed in a sandbox (holding area) in the indexes of Google until actual ranking is counted by google.

There are many different opinions about it, including the view that the Sandbox Effect doesn't actually exist, Sandbox Effect are disputed by webmasters, there is general agreement that the Sandbox only applies to search results from Google, and that results from other search engines such as Yahoo or MSN are not affected

You can take a quick look to check of your site is in Sandbox or Not

What's pretty clear is that google-trust goes to old domains, more than new ones.
Google-trust is only loosely related to google pagerank. So a new site may be able to buy itself pagerank (or even get pagerank quickly naturally, though that's way harder), but it is not going to be able to buy itself trust. The sandbox is the description of the feel webmasters get that buying links too quickly may signal some internal google flag that gets your rankings put on hold as it were, until you've 'proven' you're here to stay.
Oh, and the sandbox is said to be stronger for competitive fields. Personally I've seen something that looked suspiciously like the sandbox on one site I'm involved with.
One trend is: a new site getting indexed quickly, showing up on top of the SERPS for say the company name in that week - and then totally disappearing for months.

Google sandbox is where Google place the freshly made websites until such time is deemed appropriate before a ranking can commence.

 True. All my sites are in this situation, except for one that comes to the 1st page of Google for one week, and then disapears for 4 weeks...

life is hard, and i´m stone. :)
